Makes me wonder how Lizzie would see Darcy hadn't she found out. For all she knows, after telling him what Janes letter said, she thinks Darcy dipped out because he wanted none of that drama. So when Darcy returns to Longbourn with Bingley and try to continue his courtship to Lizzie, she could've responded with "WTF, you bailed out on me when my family was in social peril and now trying to smooth your way back in after the dust has settled?!"

@@demo2382 I believe she would still accept his courtship because why not. She started to develop some feelings for him and when she believed that he backed down after the terrible news, she did not blame Darcy because she knows how deeply (and rightfully) he resents Mr. Wickham. She did not judge him on that matter, cause she knows that the chance of marrying any respectable man is non existant after the scandal. Anyone would chicken out and no one would want to associate with them. It was an expected outcome and Lizzy finds it normal.
@mish3753 жыл бұрын
@@demo2382 I think that she would have been afraid and confused. In that time period, Lydia would have brought scandal on her entire family - and the sisters would be branded as bad as her. Seeing him again would have likely confused her, but left her hopeful that they could still see each other from time to time.

She realised that her family most likely would be out on the street after her husbands death if some of her daughters didn’t make good marriages and fast. The father was for the birds letting the whole house collapse around his ears. Even Eliza and Jane were silly since they showed no awareness of their financial situation. Rather they spent their time spewing about marrying for love. As if most women back then could afford that luxury. Charlotte was also a wise girl no matter what is said about her marrying the silly and rather repulsive Mr Collins. She secured her own social Position and stability by doing so. True to her practical nature, she made the canny decision to encourage her husband in his garden in order to deal with his slithery presence. I just love how specifically in videos related to Pride and Prejudice (or any classic-literature-related video, to be fair) the word choice used in the comments is of a much higher use of language, than the ones who are not. It just feels like we all absorbed some vocabulary and expressions from this kind of literature (even as a non-native speaker) thus expressed when we know we can.
@mish375 Жыл бұрын
Perhaps we feel more comfortable using higher level language with these videos? Regardless, I'd agree with you in saying that we do all learn something from them.

Or perhaps the audience who enjoy the classics do so because they are already quite intelligent and evidence it in their vocabulary, rather than the other way around.

A great show! A must watch! Such a pity Jane Austen died so young at 41

I agree. So many wonderful books were to remain unwritten. Such a loss for the literary world.

I love Lydia's reveal. It finally makes everything clear- although Lizzie's Aunt told the full story.

I wish this 1995 adaptation had some sort of crossover with Sean Bean's Sharpe series, which was also filmed in the 90's and set in the same Regency time period. I wonder how Major Richard Sharpe of the 95th Rifles would deal with this George Wickham.

Lizzy Darcy I know right???!!! but I guess actors needs to pay bills too. Shows like this is of higher taste but more money is earned doing movies like 50 shades.

so twisted....why can't real romance come back! where the guy tries to win her heart like Darcy instead of trying to get in her pants like Gray?
@candi08268 жыл бұрын
Lizzy Darcy exactly but guys back then were different. But obviously there were guys "wickham" who didn't mind just getting into a girls pants.

I loved those books they were amazing.I've heard Pamela planned to write a follow on story to These three remain, tying up some lose ends like Dy and Georgiana's debut into society. I really want her to,but i can't find any word of it anywhere :( Do you know any good sequels?

1. Because she's nice. 2. She's just nice. 3. She might have to see him periodically. 4. She'd be the one who would be shamed in society, he'd be protected. 5. She's just nice.

He became part of the family by marrying Lydia, and it makes things easier if they can keep at least an appearance of politeness. She basically said "I know your deal". He said "oh, ah, uh..." and she said "Just don't try this crap with me again and we can pretend to be good."

NELBA Is there anyone else out there who would ABSOLUTELY love to see Mr. Darcy played by RICHARD ARMITAGE ?? If for no other reason than his portrayal of the male lead in “North & South” should convince anyone that he REALLY WOULD be fantastic in the role of Mr. Darcy ! In anticipation of this particular “dream” coming true, I’ve already located my “drool towel” & my handheld fan ! I’m ready !

@HogwartsCastle: I just watched Kramer vs Kramer and Out of Africa, and my gosh you are right. Ehle looks even more like Streep (especially the Streep of those films) than Rosemary Harris (her mother, whom she resembles a great deal). I don't think they've ever played relatives, which is a shame.
