They often exaggerate/leave out details for the show just to make it more dramatic. For example in another episode a kid was hearing voices in his closet and to make him confront his fears, his family locked him in the closet. When they opened it he was gone. The show ended it there but the real story is he ran away through a vent and went to his friends house. In this case the real story is she likely imagined the doll saying those things and the detective just put 2 and 2 together.

I thought that was kind of inferred by the detectives reaction. He seemed suspicious of the maid from the start, and was probably just pulling the string to get more words out of her.

there have been stories like this, where the criminals are given away by a supposedly inanimate object, since Biblical times. the most famous (alibiet fictional) story is the Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe. i think that there's some truth to them though because there have many many variations of the same story in many different cultures.

You have to believe in your doll. Dolls are like angels that watches over people that loves them. The doll made those emotions cause she don't was warning you that that ex of your is no good person. Doll and stuffed animals can sense bad and good. It happened to me too with one of my stuffed animals my giant teddy bear saved my life from a burlger who broke into my house.
