@rydag11 Yes, that's where the "room for one more" quote comes from. A similar story with just that title is featured in the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark collection. A number of those were used on this show. :)

Funny thing is, death may be trying to scare this guy away from an early grave (no pun intended), but you know death in a way is also clearly messing with him for kicks. The bad puns, showing up in a lobby pushing a casket, etc. It kinda makes sense though, when you consider fictional depictions of death as an animate, interactive figure usually show him/her/it as having something of a...odd sense of humor, some cross between deadpan snark, gallows humor, and varying levels of malicious humor for measure.

the casket and the man in the suit is death and the people in the elevator were scheduled to die. he got lucky and saved him and his wife from an early death. his intution was right. after all death has no image and no real age.

It was the classic Twilight Zone episode, "22". The woman kept having dreams about room 22 at the hospital being the morgue, and the nurse saying, "Room for one more, honey!" The plane she's supposed to be on explodes on takeoff. The man in the elevator in this episode was Death.

the guy that wrote those books, which. I read and loved as a child and still own, was Al Schwartz who worked for the tv and many of the fictitious ones were taken straight from those books just like the one with the woman and her sick mom disappearing from the hotel.

The story of "The Wrong Hotel" is entitled "Maybe You Will Remember..." in the book, and "Room 245" on Beyond Belief, and that is one of the few supposedly true stories included in the books. (There are notes in the back detailing it.) Most of them, including this one, are simply folk tales, urban legends, etc. That's how I was able to guess them as fiction while watching Beyond Belief for the first time. ;)
