As a former chinese independent school student, although it would be great to recognize UEC but it is not a must, most people went for UEC and should be prepared that UEC is not recognized by local government universities and most school will offer both SPM and UEC together, so we still have SPM that can be accepted, and we still can go to the private universities. I also agree that actually in chinese school, we hardly use BM and meet people from other ethnicity, and if we don't practise English on ourselves, there's also hardly any occasion that we use English, which makes quite a number of UEC graduate actually not good in English and BM, but still can slowly improve later when go into the university or the society. For me as well, I do recognize myself as a Malaysian, and I respect other ethnic, however I do not really have any friends from ethnicity for now, it's partly my problem as I already get used to playing with friends in the same ethnicity. One of the biggest reason to recognize UEC, I think is to allow chinese education to grow, as the law only allow a total of 60 chinese independent school in entire Malaysia, once UEC is recognized, we can slowly push to have more support in have chinese education to grow, maybe have more chinese independent schools in Malaysia. On the other hand, I actually would wish that one day we can actually talk about abolishing UEC, however that day won't be that soon. We need to understand what is the purpose of UEC, UEC is here because we need a better standard of education syllabus and mostly, we need to preserve chinese education. Alot of parents send their children to chinese independent school either for these 2 reason, and also there's better discipline in chinese independent school. If Malaysia standard education system can do all of these, why do we even need UEC. What I really want for Malaysia education system to improve is that they can improve syllabus, keep up with international standards, make local examination certification widely accepted instead of having STPM only accepted in Malaysia, then preserve all vernacular education within the system. improve the education system quality together with the teacher's quality, lastly abolish the quota system, giving the opportunity to all the talented students regardless of ethnic. At that time, we don't even need to talk about UEC anymore.

if u take a peek to our history, you would know that it's always impossible to give equal opportunity for all ethnic in Malaysia as privileges of Malay and native have been unchangeably written in constitution before independence of Malaysia. According to article 153 of the constitution, it states that Yang di-Pertuan Agong responsibility for "safeguard[ing] the special position of the 'Malays' and natives of any of the States of Sabah and Sarawak and the legitimate interests of other communities" (copy from wikipedia). This article aims to restrict Chinese and other ethnic (other than Malay and indigenous person) from possesing too much wealth to address the socio-economic imbalances between the different ethnic communities after independence at 1957. to sum up, I believe the equality of different ethnic is hardly to achieve as government given the right to only benefit Malay and bumiputera in term of public education, civil services, etc.

Excuse me, STPM is not ONLY being accepted in Malaysia, but also in other countries such as UK, Australia, US. Stop being condescending towards government school graduates. TQ

This is by far best discussion I ever watch on any social media. Why? It helps me understand where we heading towards. I’m a srjkc student, then entered private school(spm syllabus). Then study in Melbourne, now work in Malaysia. Do I support UEC, before I watch this video I am strongly against uec but now I do want to acknowledge brother/sister in uec all the best in their fight. :) Let’s go Malaysia and madani Malaysia.
I've been binge-watching many BBK episodes on your channel, and I am really grateful for the phenomenal content you have been creating, which shed light on many topics that are dear to Malaysians. Keep up the good work, and more Malaysians should be aware of your channel.
Good issues to be discussed and I hope we can see the good decisions made for the sake of Malaysians and not only for Hua community in Malaysia, cheers to all!

This is a very good session, it allows the younger generation to learn from the guests their thinking process which reflects the real situation of current system.
