I hear you on being in the middle on Lizzo, but I read her and the situation totally differently. She feels betrayed because the people who made the accusations clearly lied to her face about their feelings and relationship and then later made the accusations. I was promoted to supervise people I thought were my friends (we were supposedly friends beforehand). I learned that once you are the supervisor, you are no longer able to be friends. In my situation, they started lying to my face to protect their money to the detriment of the people that relied on our work. I learned that lesson, but it was painful. I have sympathy for her because she thought that they were friends and thought that they were being authentic with her. Neither was true. I do agree with you, though, because unlike my experience she was always their boss, she was never their actual peer/friend. It is easy in retrospect to blame a person for not knowing how to do something but as you noted the creative industry types don't model good boss boundary setting behaviors. She clearly didn't know the relationship could only be boss-employee. but now she does. government and corproate bosses are more clear about boundary settings but small business owners often are not.
