On January 16th, 2020, the So-Cal Synth Society hosted a synth meet/show in Fullerton California during NAMM 2020. Among the performers were Ali The Architect, Trovarsi, Cuckoo, Rickey Tinez, Space Racer, Nasty Nachos, BboyTech and a host of others. Performances ranged in genre from house to techno to modbap. This is the full 20+ minutes of BBoyTech's modbap performance.

@@pranze3484 yup its the clock multiplier on the intellijel umidi 1u tile module. the force is clocking the pallete case via midi and hitting the clockdiv button cycles thru time divs / mults

Fantastic set. As a sample based beat maker I find myself drawn more and more to Synthesizer based music. I will never stop sampling records but I love the vibe and feeling of mod bap. Tech with soul.

This is really dope. Modbap has come a long way. When I first heard about it 3 years ago it sounded real video gamey. If that makes sense, lol. Didn’t like very much. But it sounds much better now and more musical and more hip hop. Very dope. I also really like how Ken flux is hyping his boy, nice.

two days in a row i just listen to your channel and everything you have put up! im def getting into modbap, its amazing man. i love this style of rap, with atmosphere and soundscapes. i dont have any analog gear, but im gonna first do in DAW, just to understand all things (osc, modulations, lfos, etc). Is there any analog gear you would recommend for someone that is just getting into this world of synthesis ?

pardon my huge delay responding. great note/feedback. yeah. i appreciate you. i think the sound continues to mature. also, there is more of an impression to be made in a 20 min set than experimental IG vids for context perhaps. but yo there are so many great options now a days for synths. today id recommend the Hydra Synth Explorer or Desktop, Novation bass station 2, oh and the Aruturia Microfreak.
