BCM BCG unboxing overview and testing

Those saying he shouldn't use a BCM BCG because it's not a Colt... BCM uses Microbest with additional Q.C. and then BCM laser engraved it. Colt uses Microbest with additional Q.C. and then Colt adds a C (in most cases) Colt missed something on their Q.C. end. I have also seen many BCM BCG's with problems.

The fact that your new BCM BCG functioned properly makes me feel even more confident that the gas key on your Colt BCG is likely the problem and I would lean toward a broken carrier key screw that you wouldn’t know was broke until you attempted to remove it; the staking is keeping it in. I would try that Colt BCG in another rifle that had been working fine.

Glad to see you’ve got it squared-away! I’ve used Microbest-made bcg’s, no problems. Kind of sorry that Colt won’t stand behind it more. I had a firing pin break on my Henry (I know, apples and oranges), and they mailed me TWO replacements, no questions asked.

Cool video brother I have the same BcG with Noveske carbine buffer and spring runs like a dream for a 11.5. You look happy with the results looks like it’s ejecting beautifully

Great ejection pattern with the new bolt and buffer. I wouldn't give up on the colt bolt though. See if SOTAR will take a look at it and see what's out of spec.

BCM is solid… I have had the same BCM BCG for 7 years without a single issue. I run it in two different uppers, a 10.3 and a 13.7 I probably have 7500 rounds on it combined. Finally started to experience wear on the gas rings…

BCM to save the day Now you gotta try to run the BCM bolt in the Colt carrier and see if it functions. Then you can determine if you have a spare bolt or a spare carrier laying around

If I had been thinking this through, I would’ve suggested asking any company for a replacement BCG, and I’m exchange you would mention them on air as the replacement to the defective Colt. Yeah, I work in marketing! And and a Colt fanboy, but like HD they have been resting on their laurels and the competition is now the same or better.

That’s actually a good idea I never thought about that! That’s kinda one of the reasons I went with BCM I figured it was a slap on the face for Colt to have that big white BCM BCG in it. And when people ask me why I can tell them about colts warranty and customer service

This is unrelated to the video, but I noticed from your other videos that you have both the standard 16" 6920 and 14.5" socom. Can you tell a difference in handling and maneuverability between the 2 barrel lengths? As always, great video and keep em coming! Thank you!

Not really the main difference for me is cosmetic I really don’t like the look of the 16inch barrel. With the carbine length gas system. It maybe alittle better balanced as well not it’s not that big of a deal. If ur trying to decide between the 2 I say the socom but not for the barrel length but for the socom H-Bar barrel.

Can't go wrong with a BCM BCG. You should send that Colt BCG to Chad at SOTAR for a physical/autopsy. Heck, he might even be able to repair it and then you'd have a spare. BCM BCG is definitely worth it though. It's much better than all these crappy nitrided carriers we're seeing on the market. I have never seen any proof that BCM actually does use Microbest but I assume that its true. Either way, they do a whole bunch of QC on the bolt and carrier that most manufacturers do only in batches. BCM does it to every single carrier. I'm currently building an upper. Going to be a SOLGW stripped upper with their m89 rail with a Geissele 12.5" Taper profile barrel with their "bomb proof installation" gas block. I'm debating on just throwing another BCM BCG in the upper or shelling out the cash for a Geissele RBCG which is actually a very nice bcg but boy are they proud of those. Hopefully its on sale for 4th of July. Until then I'm gonna run my spare Microbest. The rifle will be shot suppressed most of the time so the Geissele DLC carrier actually would be a quality of life improvement. Eventually this upper is going on a Griffin Mk2 ambi lower but for now its gonna go on my SBR lower until I get the MK2 and set it up the way I like to setup lowers+register it as an SBR.

Arms unlimited has the Colt BCG's on sale right now if you wanted to keep it all colt. Then you would have an excuse to buy a bcm upper to put the bcm bcg in, and if the new colt bcg didn't work it would be under warranty. Just an idea I thought i'd throw out there. 👍

You should probably use the safety selector a little more often, not to be that guy, but, the safety shouldn't come off til you're on target and ready to fire, off the target, off the trigger, safety on. Practicing safe weapon manipulation when you're alone on the range is just as important as when your not. 👍 just my 2 cents. Glad you got her running again.

The bolt doesn’t have that signature ring of chrome it could be an AO, either wsy bcm wouldn’t put their name on it if it wasn’t gtg no matter the oem.

2 of the 3 BCM BCGs I got in complete uppers from BCM were definitely *NOT* good to go despite having BCM’s name on them.

I tried I called them 2 times and the 2nd time I asked if I could just send them the BCG so they can gauge it and see they told me no. I had to send the hole rifle. I’ll be making a video there’s also one more thing I haven’t mentioned about Colt and there warranty

@@BaconSlayer69 It’s funny because the new great criticism about Colt is that they “outsource parts” which is something they’ve always done. Ironically it’s something BCM does too and, unlike Colt, BCM doesn’t have the capability to make any major parts in house. BCM is a glorified parts assembler and they make C Tier rifles at best.
