There are a whole slew of forward grips for AR-15 / M-4 rifles. Some fill the role of a hand stop and others are true vertical grips. The Bravo Company Gunfighter Vertical Grip - Short, bridges the gap between the two.
It is very easy to run this as either a hand stop or a vertical grip on your rifle. In addition to that, you can store batteries or other small items inside the waterproof grip and it is easy to put on or remove without needing special tools.

I actually just picked one of these up to replace my RVG by Magpul. Not a big fan of long vert grips due to me working inside of SUVs but gunfighter grip blows the RVG out of the water. That slight cant really does make a difference when using it as a hand stop. Great video with excellent content.

I have and have used that one by Magpul also. Isn't it crazy how much of a difference that slight angle can make? BCM did a good job on it.

I run the short mod 3 and love it (it interfaces with my keymod so I had to use it). But I love your point about this model since the mod 3 uses a torx bit. Also, the way you have yours mounted makes a smoother transition since the rail section it is mounted on looks like a little wedge to make a less dramatic transition for your hand between the rail and the grip.

I haven't ran the Mod 3, and while I do like how it goes straight onto the rail, to your point, the transition is smooth. I have it mounted on a section of keymod rail from BCM.

I use the Mod 3 in the same manner. Like it because its comfortable with more real estate and not just a thin piece of aluminum like most handstops.

I have never had a chance to use the Mod 3. If I didn't use the internal storage, I would probably go with it.

Has good texture to it and may be a little shorter? I have a BCM pistol grip so seemed a little redundant to have two with storage...and the cost difference ;)

I don't have a bcm grip, but I have some leftover magpul RVGs and I chopped them about an inch shorter than the original height. Never regretted that decision and it looks better than before.

Ya, that added length doesn't do much for me other than create a snag hazard. If you get a chance, try the BCM. The slight angle is actually pretty nice.

Gotta love those grips. I have one on my mk18 wannabe pistol. I basically use it as a hand stop too. It basically indexes my hand to my tape switch to run my light. I have Griffin panels on my newest dissipator build, but I have a feeling the might be too stick and I'll ended up switching to another bcm shorty vert grip. I also run a KAG on my 20" gun. I'm honestly not sure which I prefer yet.

They are great little grip/hand stops. That is one of the big advantages too, creating the known good. I.E. placing your hand in the same spot every time so your light / laser is always accessible. I have been playing some with other hand stops too. It is kind of dependent on the rifle for me. Some fit certain rifles / applications better than others I think.

I've used this grip on an AR for a couple of years. Love the grip, but the rubber door came off mine with minimal use. I wouldn't trust it for commonly needed items because of the failure on mine. My solution, just don't use the compartment.

Interesting that your door came off. On the flip side, mine is super tight and secure. To the point of being hard to open without some pressure. If you are going to not use it, there is always the Mod 3 which is lighter and doesn't have it. I haven't tried those yet.

I was looking at the same grip for the exact same reasons you've mentioned; however, it seems that BCM's M-LOK variant lacks the compartment and is totally hollow (like my DD vertical grip, which I don't love). How annoying is it to deal with a Key-Mod-to-M-LOK adapter? Are they not worth the hassle and price? Are there any other reasons one should't bother with such things? Alternatively, do you have any experience with any M-LOK vertical grips you'd recommend checking out? Thanks again.

Thanks for watching and the kind words Jon. If you really want the hinged door, I would suggest just putting a section of Pic (MLOK addapter) rail there (BCM sells them www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-M-LOK-Picatinny-Nylon-Rail-Section-3-inch-p/bcm-mcmr-1913-n3-blk.htm ) and then mount the Pic mount Vert grip. That way you will have the storage. It isn't a big deal stacking the two.

Kit Badger Yeah, that's what I figured. M-LOK is nice, but it's a bit pointless if nobody develops accessories for it, and you just end up adding overpriced Pic Rail chunks to it. BCM wrote back to me and said they had plans to develop more M-LOK products, someday, but would not estimate as to when that may be, so -- adapter it is. Thanks again!

It’s not a vertical grip the same way a brace isn’t a stock. The rule for pistols is you can’t have a vertical grip or a stock without having the weapon registered. Since this isn’t a vertical grip, there’s no need for registration.

They are pretty close Eric, at least with the pieces I have here. If and when they get used and dirty, I don't think you would be able to distinguish a difference. Hope that helps man, and thanks for watching.

That was a billet lower from my old FFL and a old school Mega Upper with a 11.5" SS Noveske barrel and Noveske NSR Rail, SureFire Flash Hider and SureFire SOCOM 762 MINI can. I've since dismantled and had the upper rebarreled.

I know this may seem a bit late, but I'll answer your question for future viewers. That "angled ramp" add-on is actually a Rail section (M-Lok/Keymod to Picatinny). As you can see he's using a rail section just so he can use that picatinny vertical grip on his keymod handguard.

Ok, I gotta ask that question :) why do we need vertical grips (other than for sports and competition)? I always thought that holding your rifle at magwell is more universal and in the combat zone you don't spend much time shooting from the standing position where you may need that hand stop. Am I missing something here?

I think some bias is creeping in Alex. :) I was super guilty of it too. Since they kind of came over somewhat from the 3-Gun world, they were met with resistance. But look at it in a different light with this question. What is the point of 3-Gun competitions? To shoot fast and accurate. Where else is it potentially handy to shoot fast and accurate...? :) Hand stops play a number of roles though. One of the big ones is to create a known. What I mean by that is, if you are running lights and/or lasers on your rifle, being able to place your hand in the same spot, day or night, and have access to the controls.

I am all for shooting fast and accurate. Preferably using 122-mm howitzers or MRLS :) but.... is it practical to shoot like that in the standing position? I seriously don't know. I was always trained to shoot from behind the cover or from prone position. Perhaps I am just way too militarized :)
