@@Rompet0t0 a lot of their issue is they are shouldering it and trying to handle it like an M4. It isn't. You need a more committed, forward agressive stance and a deeper hold in the shoulder of the pocket. Shotgun or AR-10 style, not M4 style.

I'll go with the M4, it's lighter and you carry more ammo, the M7 is heavy, you carry less ammo, and the recoil is too much for some people.

Recoil is similar to a 7.62x39 AK. I'll rather have 20 rounds with an 8x and the ability to hit my targets effectively over 1000m 😂.

I'm one of those smaller guys, of which Cole speaks. I'm in pretty good shape; I'm not the biggest PT stud anyone's ever seen in their lives, but it's also not unusual for me to be one of the higher performers on a PT test and to score into the 90th percentile. I'm also fairly decent at controlling recoil from years of hunting. That said, it's a no from me dawg - for all the reasons mentioned. I really wanted to like the Spear, but that hand guard is massive and it kicks hard. I'm sure it has its uses, but it's not for me, and I certainly don't think it's a "do all, general rifle". Great video! Also, they call it a spear, because that's what it is. You might as well use one - the thing is a friggin pole!

The fact the Department Of The Army went through a procurement process for this and got it this far, shows how unqualified the military beauracracy of that organization is. This rifle is a solution a problem that doesn't exist and frankly will not exist. We've gone through the mass issued full power rifle cartridge before and abandoned the concept for a reason. However, it seems we will have to lose American service members for us only to learn it again.

I think they were referring to early ballistics/ stabilizing problems and reliability issues associated with a new round. I think it has been cleaned up.

This seems like an issue that should have been considered and fix long ago not after being adopted, but our grandfathers used 30-06 battle rifles obviously in a different style of combat.

The m1 was about 9 lbs as is the m7, but the m7 is being issued with a monstrosity of a scope/rangefinder combo and the suppressor. Then ad the PEQ. I would argue that the m1s traditional hunting rifle like design balances better than the m7 by a wide margine. Even the LT version is front heavy.

That said, you typically need a little more weapons proficiency to run a battle rifle fast. I don’t know having less average skill is going to help the M7.

I feel like the guns purpose along with other army kit is punching holes in heavy walls and Armored vehicles along with body armor. The new M10 they wanna deploy with light infantry units who will be running this gun are running hesh rounds which is for punching holes in walls. I feel like the army does not plan to do room clearing with conventional troops.

I don't think this is a fair representation of the real thing. 13" barrel with a suppressor calms it down significantly. I had a chance to play with one today. I can agree that it's not a CQB monster or a long range precision gun. It's kind of meets the need in between both. That's why it comes equipped with the vortex smart optic to help the end user. This is my opinion after actually handling one.

A fair comparison would be between the M4 & the M5 with the XM-157 & using the 6.8 ammo the Army will be using. IMO ide take the M4 for CQB. The M5 shines in a DMR or a SAPR role.
