Thanks for this. It's around the corner for me for sure. One thing I am wondering about that others might be interested in is can I exchange the battery (electric start) for a smaller lithium ion type? ...and is there a cover for my battery? It just seems too open to the elements. Thank you guys! Cheers 🇬🇧

Thanks for the informative video, my machine needs a slight adjustment. On another matter could you do a video on the differential lock as my machine doesn’t lock when I throw the lever? Thanks Neil
@BCSAmerica
@BCSAmerica 2 жыл бұрын
It won't lock immediately after pulling the lever. In order for it to lock, the wheel will need to turn at least a half a rotation. For example, if one wheel starts spinning, pull the lever and the wheel should lock within a half rotation and the stuck wheel should start spinning. Working on a video for diff cable adjustment now.

my cables all seem to be properly adjusted. However, the transmission kicks out intermittently as though there might be a clutch slip. what could that be?

Hi BCS, could you tell me how I can adjust the Steering brakes on my BCS750 please

Okay, buckle in because this is going to be a long comment! The two most common problems that occur with the brakes are: 1. When the operator releases the brake lever, the brake does not disengage completely, usually causing a squealing sound; and 2. The wheel does not slow down or stop when the corresponding brake lever is fully squeezed. In both scenarios, unless the brakes were recently serviced, we suggest postponing the issue of cable adjustment and go directly to removing the wheel and checking the condition of the brake assembly. The Brake Assembly • With the tractor in gear, loosen the wheel nuts a fraction of a revolution with your 17mm deep socket, extension, and socket wrench. • Next, elevate the tractor using a jack or blocking, • Complete the removal of the nuts and washers on one side and remove the wheel. • Remove the brake drum. If it does not come easily, shock it loose with a dead blow hammer. Note: With PowerSafe models, check to make sure the parking brake is off. • If, upon inspection, there is oil in the cavity of the drum or on or near the brake shoes, the wheel seal is leaking and must be replaced before proceeding. For complete instructions see the video REPAIR AN AXLE LEAK ON A BCS TRACTOR WITH DIFFERENTIAL DRIVE on our KZbin channel. • Next, clean the entire area within the bell housing of dirt and grime. Use a commercial brake cleaner since this is both effective and evaporates quickly. • Using sandpaper, remove any rust that may be present, especially on the inside of the drum where the brake shoes make contact. • If the shoes are burnished, we specifically recommend either an 80 or 120 grit cloth-backed sandpaper to create a fresh, roughened surface. • Next; using a silicone lubricant with nozzle, spray the pivoting post at the point where it extends through the backing plate. There is a slight lateral play in the shaft, so push the shaft inward from the back side while applying. Wipe the overspray from the back plate; then squeeze and release the brake lever multiple times. o Please note that if, after this treatment, the shoes do not fully expand or the return springs connecting the two brake shoes cannot retract the shoes sufficiently to eliminate the squealing sound of the shoes making contact with the drum, you will need to follow the disassembly directions of the wheel seal replacement video to remove the springs and backing plates for more thorough cleaning, lubrication, and possible spring replacement. Cable Adjustment • First, loosen the cable clamp on the lower end with an 8 or 10mm wrench, depending on tractor model. Squeeze and release the brake lever a few times to confirm that the cable is working smoothly and not rusted or kinked. If kinked, we recommend replacing it. • Assuming the cable is OK, use a 13mm wrench to loosen the jam nut on the threaded tube located in front of the brake lever bracket. Then turn the tube clockwise until there are only a few threads exposed beyond the bracket. • Returning to the brake end of the cable, use a pliers to grab and pull the inner cable till it’s taut. While continuing to hold the inner cable, tighten the cable clamp bolt. • Now return to the adjusting tube on the handlebar and turn the tube counterclockwise until you achieve a position that, when you squeeze the brake lever, it stops about one inch from the handlebar grip. If you can squeeze the lever till it touches the grip, the cable is not sufficiently short, and you need to turn the adjusting tube counterclockwise a few more revolutions. Once the gap between the grip and lever is one inch, tighten the jam nut with the 13mm wrench. • Having achieved the proper position, it’s time to test.

@@Paddyandpoppy In that case, a cable adjustment is likely all that is needed. A couple things to note though: - these are "steering assist" brakes, and not meant to stop each wheel completely, just slow it down to assist with a turn. - the brakes are only functional when the differential is not locked for positive traction in both wheels.
