We all needed that today BD, well pretty much everyday. Thanks for doing the entire 4 performance from NGT, this is basically where it all started. She won 50,000 Krone (around 45,000 USD) and donated the majority of it to children's charities....she is not your normal child. We love her not just because of the insurmountable talent but because she is a sweet, kind, humble, caring and Classy young lady, even at this age and now at 18 she still is that same little girl in a grown up person. A barefoot princess with a hypnotic voice. Angelina Summertime (George Gershwin song) was based on Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong version. There's some 'blue notes' here. This early performance of "Summertime" was so impressive. I loved it. Her first audition on the show of "gloomy Sunday" by Billie Holiday was the one that made people's head's snap back in her direction, first catching the attention of an international audience. But her second one, another Billie Holiday song, was impossibly done with no music and all her competitors standing just behind her, showing on stage she has no nerves. She pretty much left everyone speechless. The next one I think, "Bang Bang", let everyone know she was not limited to old school jazz. She is one of the most versatile singers in the world. So many wonderful covers and originals. She's not scared of tackling complex songs from top artists.

In "Bang Bang" one of the judges said he knew that AJ was a genius when she was bossing the the bass guitarist around, telling him where to stand and how she was going to give him cues during the performance. And like I mentioned in a prior comment, AJ became a professional singer in the few months that culminated in "Summertime." And yes -- I've needed to hear AJ many times, especially during Covid, and her videos were always there.

The first audition was late in 2013 when Angelina was still 7 years old. But, her birthday is January 10, so by the time the second audition (judge's cut) occurred, she was eight years old. She won against all those much older guys with 44% of the total vote. Her prize winnings were 500,000 Kr., which was about $80,000 in 2014. She gave most of it to children's charities, but, in my opinion, she kept some back to finance several private recording sessions, like I Put a Spell on You, at 9 years old. By age 11, she was only recording with a single guitarist, although she was always performing on TV and for charities and a few private events, for which she might have been paid. There is no question that by age 9 she was a professional vocal artist. BTW, the enhanced vibrato which she used in Summerime was only used once again for the same song in a concert. Then she tamed it down!

Could you let me know where you found that information? I had heard, many times, that she donated most of the money to children's charities.

But I believe Norwegian law required that the money be put in trust until 18. And lastly, there was something earlier this year about the disbursement of the funds after she had turned 18.

And Hearts to this child. ...And I just have to laugh each time I view that episode of AGT where she sings Bohemian Rhapsody and how people are marvelling at her composure and maturity at 13! Angelinas parents gave into their daughter constantly asking to enter the competition. I dont think they thought about if she won. The fuss and tour afterwards is the reason they put on the brakes trying to give Angelina as normal a life is possible. Record excs from Los Angeles were turning up at Angelinas School. So they told her concerts only in school holidays and Utube. They turned down Disney later Cowel etc. They only signed with Republic Records when Angelina was 14 on the understanding they could not push her out till she finished school. Thats why you never heard of her till now.
