There used to be so much more - check out Rucking from the 70’s and 80’s, which was a way of sorting issues out and completely legal 😂😂 I loved those days, play hard and have a good few pints together after the game

Rugby fights are tame in the current era, the possibility of red cards and lengthy bans means players do not go hell for leather like they did in amateur era.

Rugby was banned from the schoolyard at my school. North England is more football country than rugby. So when someone brought in a rugby ball, rugby was a novelty, but a violent one...which suited because it was a tough sorta school. The scrum went in, the boots went flying. That and too many injuries playing on concrete, the school banned rugby. Mind you in gym class we had a teacher that was old school (but young) and from our culture, so we used to play murderball (like dodgeball with full contact) and he would play as well. Supervised, the injuries weren't so bad. Even the wimpy kids liked it, it was a chance to get the boot in and settle scores with school bullies without comebacks.

What’s a point of banning rugby and having football cause England you also useless on football too😂😂😂
@JamesHyde19868 күн бұрын
Depends where in the North you mean. In Yorkshire I’d say rugby league is more popular than football even. Certainly at my school we hardly ever played football and rugby league was the main game at break times, PE and school representative teams.

6:51 Please react to this legendary ref. Nigel Owens! He’s a Welsh and gay ref who’s the most respected in the world by players, coaches and fans alike and he takes no BS!

No one wants the game reffed by a "look at me" referee like Nigel Owens. He is not highly respected in NZ because of this. Must be a UK phenomenon.
@croceyzx24338 күн бұрын
@ Ah fair enough, can’t argue there. I’m a hockey (ice) fan and in the NHL there’s a ref called Wes McCauley and he’s similar to Owens in the sense reaction channels always gets told to react to him as he has a personality (and is the only ref with compilations 😅), but he always has his critics! He’s respected by fans and players but not necessarily liked by the same ppl too. Kind of a saying, you respect someone but you don’t necessarily need to like them in order to respect them.

@croceyzx2433 Truly the best referees go unnoticed. We are not there to watch them pantomime around the place like Owens did.

@@JaemanEdwardsSounds as if you have a personal grudge against Nigel Owens. He was a good and fair ref who treated players with respect and took the time to explain his decisions with a fair sprinkling of humour thrown in. So my decision is you need to take a “time out” in the naughty corner and reflect on being a kinder human being and less of a grouch.
@JaemanEdwards7 күн бұрын
@@FanOfLexi The fact he has a highlights page proves how bad Nigel Owens was. We are there to watch the players, not him. It's embarrassing to see rugby people recommending a referee video. No other sports do this. What's funny is the recommendations all come from the UK. NZers couldn't stand Owens. Must be a British thing this referee love.

A lot of pushing and shoving today, the earlier rugby player's used their fist's. And as with the Lion's team of 1978, if the Captain called 99, then the entire team piled in with their fist's. The logic was that the referee could not send the entire team off, and the Referee perhap's would sort out the problem's he was turning a blind eye to.

lol I see you were a little shocked at 1:30 with the C bomb being dropped 🤣🤣 The Irish, British (all four nations), Kiwis and the Aussies (maybe the South Africans too and Canada but not sure) use the C word all the time! It’s kinda becoming a bit like the F word as it’s being used more and more in daily conversation with friends. Can’t common on the other countries I mentioned but here in England (and I’d imagine the rest of the UK) you hear it just randomly on the street too. No one’s intention is to offend anyone when they use it, it’s more to add emphasis to the conversation. F word is kinda becoming a filler word and kinda as popular as “umm”. With that said, it’s still frowned upon in more places then not and especially from the older generations. But typically if you say it in conversation at a pub or outside with friends, no one really bats an eyelid. But Ik it’s still massively offensive in the US!

Them guys are crazy but it’s normal for them in rugby. You can get one hell of a big guy getting hold of a much smaller guy and the smaller guy will stand up to him and take no shit from him no matter how bigger he is. I have seen even worse than this. And what’s so funny at the end of the rugby game the 2 teams are best friends and get on so well. Crazy sport. But love rugby so much. It’s your friend Eamonn here again from Ireland.🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪☘️☘️☘️. Sorry to hear your still off feeling sick. But at the same time it’s better that you probably got sick now and it will wear off before Christmas Day . A cold can last for about a week because I have been there but I don’t know what you have. Well I hope your get better fast really soon. Anyway another great great rugby reaction. Neh, this is not really a good video. Its hard to tell you what to react to, cause you do not have a grip on the rule set, so you might think that a tackle might be legit, and then its not, and vice versa. But in general, every team has one or two players, that are basically there to ruff the opposition up. They often get a sin-bin (card), but sometimes the guys lose their cool, and then you get vids like this. I personally would like for you to get to know the rules a bit more, and also then watch a boring game like number 1 in the world play number 2 in the world, cause its not entertaining, if you are not invested in that game. Anyway. I can't suggest vids for you. I hope the other peeps in chat can. Just one peace of advice, when people say "Best game ever", you'll need the context of the situation. Anyway, hope you get to watch a lot more rugby, your team (as at 2024/12) is currently ranked 15th in the world. I might be mistaken, but that is the highest position (I think), you've reached yet. So you are on an up.
