BDO | Scholar Early to Mid-Game Analysis | GOOD for Seasons or NaH!?

Everything I learned about Scholar after graduating from the season servers is compiled into this video. I also discuss the recent buffs we received and if I think they are good enough to make the class a viable option in PvE. Been grinding her at gyfins lately, and she performs very well there, especially in the smaller spots, you clear a group, you shift +s twice (reversal into gravity storm) to the middle of the room, check which group has your buff and you can shift + Q right behind them for the back attacks, its awesome. I do agree with her mobility though, other grinding spots like jade have felt clunky due to the short mobility range. Another way they could fix it, is make more mobility flows to make traversal smoother +faster, which would be cooler imo than just buffing the ranges

Ive been digging into her movement for a bit and you do have decent combos, Scruffoon has a good scholar mobility vid. But her movement is tougher to execute since you can easily jump too far and overshooting the pack

I finally was able to test her at Gyfin lower today and I must say she feels really good there. I was able to pull slightly higher than succ woosa and succ lahn. So, the dmg is there. I would imagine ppl with over 1k total ap could easily kill the mobs before they turn. I pulled over 23k but got screwed on accessory drops with just 1. If i would have gotten 3 or 4 it would have been a 1.4 billion hour. Hopefully they continue to work the kinks out of her mobility making her playable at spots like jade, calpheon giants, and serendia elvia. I'm sure she does great with the dehkia content. My issue is that she has so many skills that hurl her forward, but then she suffers from the issue of AoEs not reaching behind her. Zero control over shift Q.

Yeah, I think w+f would be so much better if it was a circular aoe instead of just a frontal aoe. Similar to s+e which is a really good skill imo. And yeah shift q is slow and clunky. They should speed up the attack animation and give us the ability to move from side to side like Pegasus.

Hot tip I just discovered: Lock Golden skyfall and use throw hammers followed by home run. Becomes a huge shotgun. The description on the very bottom effect details of home run show the way.

LOL yeah, Scholar is definitely a math nerd. Tamer mains all over are really happy with the class. I'm glad that PA finally committed to making an effort to balance PvE. Now they are stuck with the PvP dilemma. GL with your 2024 gains!! All is well on the East side!! Let's get it!

yeah man, the class is amazing, my gripe is with the Q skill mainly. Trying to get from one place to another but I can't throw the gravity orb over a flat rock on the ground lol... which ends up glitching out and I can't use the skill until it despawns or I move away far enough or some how use the skill again to cancel it out. Other than that, bro, here's your mobility: W E > W F > W C > C > Q > Q LMB > W RMB > C > Q > Q > Repeat

I agree, if her mobility gets fixed and the slightly increase her dmg she will be amazing and really fun to play. I'm playing some of the end game spots now and she's performing quite well, still not quite S tier but I would say she is well balanced so far. Agreed 💯 Range, attack speeds and cooldowns for those low damage mobility skills HAVE to be buffed.

For real, the class feels amazing while playing but i just feel slow and stuck in mobility animations. I think PA is working on fixing this issue. Once that is done this class will be on par with the best classes in the game. Still can't wait to see some Gunslinger footage or even a character model. Also just tested it and a lot of her skill addons are not being applied. Throw hammers is not applying certain addons as a few others. I put in a ticket with video evidence so we'll see what PA does.

For someone who always hold Shift/Space/S key for simple combo like me, Scholar skill quite confusing although similar heavy swing like Guardian and Drakania

Yeah, I'm still trying to work out a good combo for giants, it just seems like there are a lot of pre buff and debuff skills needed for a proper rotation. Definitely a higher apm class than other heavy weapon classes, but it's still pretty fun. I love the animation!!! Thanks for watching the video!! Happy holidays

E > W+E > Hold E (Flow) > Shift LMB > S+RMB > S+RMB (flow) > Shift RMB > Space > Shift F repeat S+E to dump rage thats what im using makes her feel very strong but yea mobility is lacking you can be creative with her mobility but not alot there tbh

This is similar to the combo I've been running as well. I think they are working on improving her mobility a little with the global lab patch. But we will have to see what hits on the live server. I'm starting my test at gyfins to so I'm excited to see how she does without having to worry about mobility.

Yup, the class actually reminds me of woosa alot. Ithe hold E and F skills and a big nuke and the ends. The only difference is the gave scholar more big dmg skills, making her a little higher apm to manage when moving through combos. Thanks for checking out the video and dropping a comment 👍

Yeah, ik I shouldn't have made a scene about quitting. But these other mmos suck wind. The combat is just bad and I can't play tab target games. So bdo is my only option unless I just quit gaming in general.

I'm testing late and end game spots now and she seems to be pretty average, nothing too insanely broke but no where's near bad. I would say like A tier imo. But in terms of fun, SSS tier. Such a fun class!!

her mobility is so bad and aoe is short like you said. class is good but i think its for end game area where you dont move as much.

Yeah, this is just early to mid game. I'm testing her in end game spots now and she still seems to be on the lower side of the power scale. Prolly about the same as like wizard awakening, warrior awakening, and such. Not a bad class but by no means is she overpowered.

Yeah, I doubt they will improve her mobility but who knows. I feel like she is just a filler class anyway. There wasn't much pre release advertising like maegu and woosa.
