This is such a weird mindset. If two people have a competitive game of something at an even level and with an even playing field, there's some satisfaction in the triumph there - you had no advantages or handicaps, and you came out ahead. This situation, where it's so pay to win that money invested almost certainly dictates the winner, is more akin to a rich person laughing at poor people because they're not as rich as they are - *except* that those 'rich people' act like it's the case of an even playing field. I mean, if I got 44-0 in a game where I know I had invested thousands and my opponents had invested practically nothing, my mindset would be "the money did that" - I wouldn't at all think to be proud of a competitive victory.

It isn't that high of a price to pay considering I've gotten close to 1,000 hours out of the game, which is about 9x the length of Elden ring, which is a full priced $60 game, so if you factor in the time, the amount of money I've spent on Apex per hour is actually less than the vast majority of full priced games. Let's be honest here, if it looks better than D2/D3 on paper in terms of sales, Wyatt Cheng is going to have a pat on the back and a huge bonus from the HQ. And the P2W cycle is going to continue. It really wouldn't matter if the community or these big streamers are throwing bunch of shade at Blizzard right now.
@wolfmayner62742 жыл бұрын
@@cafelatte1124 You're absolutely right. Once a company like Blizzard reaches the size that it does, they simply abandon their roots in favor of embracing the lowest common denominator in gaming, and catering to the most casual whale gamers that there are. It doesn't matter that their entire core fanbase has already abandoned them, because there will be thousands of doofuses and streamers like Rich Campbell who more than make up for the dozens of fans who leave them behind. There will never be another 10/10 game like Starcraft 2 to come from Blizzard ever again. It's all going to be gacha mobile dogshit from here on out. The developers are Central Banks, they setup the 'economic game', it's their rules, they print money out of thin air etc. They then divide the free money amongst their 'whales' who become monopoly players and wrecking everyone's else. The delusion of low spenders i.e, the middle class is that they can somehow win against a whale. But they can't realise is that not only is their labour being siphoned but also they are propped up by a ' 'secret investor', the Central Bank. Last time I actually dealt with whales was on WoW private servers. And what was funny about it was if you were good enough mechanically on certain classes you could still beat the ever living piss out of them, because they were mechanically inept. Whales would usually be warriors because it was a Wrath server so you would get access to all talent points, and Warriors just have the best synergy across their three trees. But most of these players would just click bladestorm and think that that would win every fight, so when somebody knew how to disarm them, they wouldn't know what the heck to do. Many other little things would also factor into this of course. :P
@GraveUypo2 жыл бұрын

Don't worry, Diablo immortal learned from wow's mistakes and has since taken skill entirely out of the game. You just get the illusion of skill being needed because you might manage to beat a really hard NPC boss through carefully avoiding his telegraphed attacks. But don't be fooled, you have no chance against a p2w kid. In this game, skill rhymes with bunny.
@since18762 жыл бұрын
@Lost in the woods I've never played THAT game on a private server but on other ones the only way to get certain extremely over powered custom weapons and gear is to buy them. So for example, let's say you look at the best in game item that anyone can earn... Well, the owner of a private server might make that item be 10x stronger and cost you a hundred bucks to buy and it's only available in the private servers shop. It's stuff like that that'll happen in private servers.
@slappytheclown4 Жыл бұрын
Pay to win on a private server? Disgusting, the whole reason I played them back when I was young was because I couldn't afford monthly subs to the retail version.
