I have some tactical pants I bought off online that came with this exact modification, took me a while to realize it too. Ever since then I modded it on all my tactical and denim pants, except slacks. Huge gamechanger.

Yeah it's really great. Only takes 5 minutes too. Does it work on jeans?
@roxrequiem2935Ай бұрын
@SonsofLiberty-u8j denims yeah. Theres usually a fold already sewn in for the finishing and you can poke two holes there with a soldering iron. Just wet it a bit so it doesnt leave smolder inside but the finishing fold on some jeans can be too small so you may need to sew. Also preferably use something stiff to lead the elastic chord like a zip tie.

Great idea. I love any mod that makes something better. Sort of like the guy who improved the wheel that his buddy invented by connecting TWO wheels with a stick that became the first axle. Thanks, Patriot.

30 years ago in the USMC we had small bungie-like straps that used hooks to connect to each other instead of toggles.

We had them 40 years ago, too! Worked really good! I use hair bands, like thick rubber bands!

4:42 Have you tried tying the shock cord to the ribbon and then using the ribbon to pull the shock cord through the pants?
@bollywig7871Ай бұрын
Was just going to suggest the same
@SonsofLiberty-u8jАй бұрын
I did! But the little combined knot seemed too big to get into the hole. Thanks!
@BigSawCatАй бұрын
Did the same, another deal are "shock cord shoe laces" They come with some nice hardware

Oh cool thanks for the tip!

Never even crossed my mind. I always just left them untied and complained about stepping on them. Gonna give this a try.

while removing the ribbon helps when unbloused for air circulation. I blouse my pants rolled into my socks to prevent ticks and stuff from getting into my lower half. kind of skipps the shock cord and its more protective.

Absolutely.

I did something like this with the early OIF/OEF DCUs, but using those elastic/cotton ‘blousing’ ties they sold in every PX everywhere: 1. Take two of the ties and link them by crimping the little round loops on the end. 2. Tie a DCU drawstring tightly to one end of the linked blousing elastics. 3. Remove the stitching securing the DCU drawstring in place. 4. Pull the drawstring out until you have both ends of the linked blousing elastics coming from the hole. 5. Link the metal rings together, and crimp with pliers. 6. Put on your newly elasticized DCU bottoms, wearing the elastic on the outside of your boots, where they will keep the dust out without cutting off your circulation. 7. Launder 8,000 times over a twenty year period without any problems whatsoever. ;)

Such a great idea! Thanks Rene

I’m not sure if it’s practical these days: during the GWOT those blousing things could be found in every PX from McCoy to Kirkuk, and could be done with a leather man in ten minutes, so it was a pretty neat QOL trick. Not sure if they’d still have them, or if PXs these days carry tons of shock cord. ;)
@SonsofLiberty-u8jАй бұрын
@@rene-davidduplessis8766 Yeah, plus you can get a roll of shock cord from Amazon to your door next day for like $8. :)

Blousing straps.
@SonsofLiberty-u8jАй бұрын
Is that what you call them, or is that what they are really called in the field manual etc.?
@NobleOmnicideАй бұрын
Yep, blousing bands/straps for the win. I never bloused the bottom of my pants on the outside of my boots. I always used blousing bands to keep my pants in my boots all day long.

thanks for the idea . naw if u tuck this inside the boot would this be unconfutable if you were to do this .
@SonsofLiberty-u8j28 күн бұрын
yeah man I agree. If you have this big thick thing on there it would be too big to go inside the boot. Thanks for watching anyway I appreciate you.
