Don't be so eager for a relationship that you ignore red flags or try to force things. Live life, make friends, & enjoy your 20s because there really is plenty of time to find "the one" 🖤

I’m going to take my husbands phone and subscribe him to your channel. He doesn’t know that he needs this yet. He hears me listening to you guys every night. So I know he is listening to your show, as well. Sometimes he’ll make comments and (guffaws) from behind his computer (he’s a coder). So even while he is deep in “code world”, the audacity of some of the characters in these writers’ stories conger him out of his focus and he’ll say something like, “What? Yikes.” before I see his head dive back down; re-immersed in code. 😆 So. He doesn’t know he needs this subscription on his phone. We’ll get you to that 100k, Dad! 👍🏻😘

about finding 'the one' I feel like we focus too much on finding the person we want to keep around the longest. So many of our loves in our lives aren't great to keep forever but for a time in our life it was amazing, it changed us and lead us down a path we would not have taken otherwise.

But I wanted to jump on real quick so I didn't forget. I also fell asleep sending an email to Morgan so I'll finish that later too. Again, thank you so much for providing an amazing space and community for so many people. And whether here or on THT, what you say, your advice, or even just the commentary, I know you have helped so many people. You truly are making a difference and I feel blessed to have found you. ❤

Story 1- I agree so much with finding people you have interests in common with! Me and my partner met on tinder a dating app but before we met I had so many bad experiences on there and got my heart broken a lot! So nowadays I wouldn’t really recommend it tbh I think I just got very lucky! But we bonded over our love for outdoors, nature and animals and also horror films when we first started talking so you need to meet people you can get to know and that stimulate your brain with good conversation! Good convo in person is really lost nowadays with social media!

Story 4, do what you love. You're so lucky to have found a career you are passionate about. They will talk regardless. If you outpace your bf, they will say you've emasculated him. People like that talk no matter what. My husband and I earned the same. People always congratulated HIM on everything we did and told me how lucky I was to be with a guy who loves and takes care of me (I paid for most everything, he is horrible with money). Going low contact and doing what I wanted gave me peace and allowed everyone the chance to leave or fall in.

12:10 just for the 21 year old who feels lonely. Totally get it! I pretty much was constantly in a relationship from 14 - 24. Always searching for "the one". Always falling in love and being disappointed. Trust me, being in a relationship doesn't create happiness. The happiness 2-3 years of my life have been these past few years single, not needing to answer to anyone, buying my own house and discovering myself. Yes, I do want to find my future husband/ father of my kids. But who am I? What have I got to give? How do I react to things? If I was in a relationship I never would have been able to start the journey of finding myself. Hold on girl. Its tough, but find different ways to not feel so lonely. A romantic relationship isn't everything. Friendships usually mean more and have stronger bonds ❤

All my friends are slowly having relationships/situationships and I'm the only one still alone. I know the problem is with me because I never put myself out there. And with the few guys asking me out, I'm the one turning them down because I feel awkward and uncomfortable. I know i'm ready and want to be with someone. It's just that the first step of putting myself out there is too daunting for me

the last story- i agree that she should just let the trash take itself out. i was in a similar situation in my nursing program where i lived with my friend at the time who was also in my program. we were in a large friend group together. well she turned out to be very manipulative & had lots of issues. she ended up moving out of my apartment abruptly & causing me to lose my spot in the friend group by talking about me behind my back (something i never did to her despite my deep anxiety & depression she was causing) & exaggerating stories. well fast forward a little over a year & im 20 days from graduation & it seems she doesnt have any friends left from the group at all. although nursing likely has more people in it than OT, youd be amazed at how small the world is when it comes to taking jobs. everyone knows everyone at least through other people. so i dont think this effects me much because people's true colors always show. im civil with the friend group & won't have a problem working with anyone, even my ex roommate. however i cant say how the other's feel. my point is, the truth always prevails & OP was not in the wrong & she'll be just fine in her profession. i think it would be good for her to meet with some new people & have a new support group especially while she looks for jobs! & she can plant the seed of her intentions in them. :)

Maybe I (the writer if story 1) was unclear there. By “a smaller dating pool” I was actually just talking about being a lesbian😅 I’m definitely not ruling out neurotypical people from my potential dating pool, however I can definitely see some neurodivergent people thinking they can only date other neurodivergent people so that’s great advice☺️

To the writer of the first story: I learned that if you aren’t comfortable and content with being by yourself, then you are not ready to be with someone else. Not being able to enjoy your own life outside of a romantic partner leads to attachment issues. You will rely on that person to give you happiness when it should really be that you are happy with yourself and you want to spread that happiness. You change so much as a by person in your twenties. Focus on yourself, find the things that bring you joy, and one day that person will see how brightly you shine and will be drawn to you. It sounds like you have a lot of anxiety about being alone, talk to a therapist to manage those fears. Your anxiety might be coming off as being desperate to date and that may turn people off to you. Keep dating but make sure you are the best version of yourself

For the girl in the first story-yes you are still very young, which should give you way more optimism than you have right now. What if your first ever “relationship” is with a girl who is still finishing high school who you won’t meet until your late 20s/early 30s? It may not be the one but you’ll pop your relationship cherry within the next decade, I promise! There’s also a TikTok compilation of many women wondering this exact thing. They’re older, established, but still waiting to meet the love of their life and yearning for a family. Someone stitched the TikTok and told the story of her best friend who was in this position until 40. She met her husband and they have two little kids now. Early 40s is still young enough to spend forever with someone else. If this is what it will end up like for you, I do not want you spending the next 2 decades fretting over this. You will regret it. Enjoy your young life and expect the unexpected.

Story #4. It isn't just your friend group where the men make more than the woman. This is the world we live in. Even if you both had the same education and did the same job, statistically he would still make more that you. Financial matters should be private. He needs to tell his people to butt out.

About story 1: If you're also neurodivergent, I have some advice. Invest in therapy and courses for social training. Therapy helped me be more in sync with myself and allowed me to show up as my authentic self. And people feel that. Childhood-trauma has a way of blocking people out, even if you don't openly discuss it. So maybe look into that.... And I also had to learn how not to be obnoxious in conversations. 😅 I went to courses on violence-free communication and listened to many podcasts on communication and how to properly listen. I never wanted to be obnoxious. I didn't even know that I was being off-putting. I always wanted to love the person I was talking to as best I could, but I had to learn how to first.
@pegwomp7379 ай бұрын
As far as "the one" conversation... I think there are a lot of compatible people, so potentially, there are multiple matches. If you've married, I believe that means you don't seek that anymore. It really should be a commitment. Exceptions might be infidelity, abandonment, or abuse.
@SamiMichelle9 ай бұрын
Story 1: I have had 5 year long plus relationships and my boyfriend had zero relationships at all and very little dates. We both agree that he did it right. The trauma and heartbreak and toxicity that I experienced with my relationships was not worth it in a lot of ways. My boyfriend and I met at 24 and it’s end game. As devastating as it feels to be single and not have any relationships, I want to tell you that you’re doing it right. ❤

to the first story: i am 21 as well, struggling with the same feelings. when people tell you that you will find someone, they really mean it. it may take time, but everything in life happens for a reason. take this time to ground yourself, find & love you so that way when the right person comes you’re ready. you sound like an incredible soul, you deserve everything you want in life 🩵

I want to comment to Story 4. First, your finances are no one's business. Second, if boyfriend's sister doesn't like you, she is not going to like you, no matter how much money you spend in front of her. Odds are that jealousy is at the root of everything. You are working on a PhD. Lastly, if the worst thing anyone has to say about you is that you are with someone because of a 100K income, there isn't much to criticize or gossip about. That's actually great. You do have earning potential - you haven't reached your max yet. You are just starting out. You don't know yet where your road will lead. He should defend your situation but then, let it go. You have to let it go or their comments will drive you crazy. You know how things are.

I'm wondering if there's a way to professionally adress it, while being the bigger person. Something along the lines of meeting up with the instigators of the rumors and calling them out: "You know this isn't true. I do not appreciate these rumors being spread about me! Those who know me and my character know them to be lies and you're only reflecting badly on themselves." followed up by a warning that you will take action (regarding slander/defamation depending on how and where they spread these rumors) should they continue to spread the rumors or make up new ones. Idk. :D
