The reason why SG busses stop at empty stop sometimes is because they have to adhere to the schedules of their arrival times. Each bus stop has a specific arrival time for every bus service. When they stop it gets recorded in the system whether they are ahead or behind schedule. Something like that.

Yeah but I'm sure most people that have any common sense would already know why they do that but i have gotten on empty buses like this before too what's even scarier is when one more person gets on it at night in the middle of nowhere and some of the drivers will rip you off of a day pass if you don't remind them several times that you were paying for a full bus pass. As a Filipino living in the Philippine province, this isn't a strange occurrence. When we used to travel by bus to and from Manila as a kid, I often heard similar stories. One time, around May, (Fiesta season) we had to stop at a quiet crossing at night for quite a while, even though there were only 2 passengers that got off that I could see and they barely had any luggage. My mom and I were pretty much the only passengers left, save for 2 or 3 other people. It confused me at first, but I kept quiet. Let me also add that minutes before it stopped, I could've sworn the bus felt full of people, but after those 2 passengers got off during the long stop, it suddenly felt really empty. (we were sitting near the front, so we couldn't see what's behind without standing up). After the bus started moving again, the conductor turned to us and apologized, "Sorry for the delay, it's passenger season right now. A lot of them seem to also come home this time of year to celebrate." he said it in a lighthearted tone, but we immediately understood what he meant. The other passengers that haven't gotten off yet but lived in the same area also came closer and added that it happens all the time and apparently, supernatural beings also have celebrations of their own during that month so busses going through the area often make similar stops in that particular spot. At some point, it just stopped being scary to everyone and just became a regular occurrence that no one bats an eye on. Very on brand for Filipinos I guess, we tend not to overthink things and just go with the flow lol~

Let me share some local haunted places here in Malaysia, neighbouring country of Singapore. 1: Penang Bridge pillar 56. There is a world famous bridge in my hometown, Penang, that links the island with the mainland. Pillar 56 of the bridge is rumoured to be haunted, since construction began. Apparently there is a trapped 'being' who used the place as a kind of passageway between dimensions and kind of got stuck in limbo once the pillar went in. The most chilling encounter involved a group of fishermen who were sucked into what they initially thought was a whirpool except that it assumed the face of an old woman with mouth wide open. 2: Yellow VW Beetle, Karak Highway. The Karak Highway is a winding road going down/uphill with about 2 lanes per direction, located near the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur (or KL for short). Cars usually speed on this highway, and there are many YT vidoes of Ferarris, Lambos and all other cars racing there. Many accidents and fatalities have occurred at Karak Highway. I've personally driven on it twice. The first time, there was a huge semi trailer which crashed into a ditch, toppled onto its side. The second time, a motorcyclist crashed, and died. His body was in 5 pieces, scattered all over the road. The highway keeps on taking more lives. But the Yellow Volksvagen Beetle is the scariest thing about The Karak Highway. Legends say that if you drive late at night by yourself, you’ll come face to face with this mysterious yellow Volkswagen Beetle. If you try to overtake it, it will appear in front of you again later many times and if you manage to look into the car, you may find that no one is driving it! There is also the story of a ghostly boy who roams the highway asking passing drivers where his mother is. It was rumored that the boy and his mum were involved in a deadly car crash where the mum was flung out of the car and the boy himself was killed as well. And to this day, he still haunts the road searching for his lost mother. There have been many horror movies based on these, like 'Karak' and 'Volksvagen Kuning' (kuning means yellow in malay). If you enjoy these storries, tbere are many more Malaysian haunted places and areas, like my personal favourite, Tun Ku Kudin road, where someone was brutally murdered. Guys, don’t be mistaken. The bus captains DO NOT stop because there are ghosts. They stop because according to the Bus Contracting Model (BCM), all buses have a schedule to follow and especially for last buses, they must strictly follow the schedule to not miss any passengers who need the ride.

From what i heard, the new drivers or whoever that stays in the west side of singapore will deploy to that bus service for an up start. They will even stop at one of the busstops at night even when theres nobody flags for the bus. Afterall they’ve got no choice but to drive there.

Hello there is another bus in Singapore that I think it might interest u g, there is bus 405 that drives only at night at the old choa chu kang cemetery area but only selective 1 week per Yr but most interestingly that only young bus drivers get to drive at that area I mentioned

BEWARE: This doesn't only happen for bus 975 but other busses too. I took the last bus of 61 at night all alone. At the time I had no idea and posted on my WhatsApp status jokingly stating that the driver is stopping for ghosts without knowing that there are actually superstitious stories of it. Though iirc, they actually do it because they have a given time frame.

It's not uncommon that buses make stops because they have to keep to their scheduled arrival times at each stop. And not just 975 but many others as well. It's to make sure the bus intervals are consistent. They may or may not open the doors while stopping. However for some specific services like 975, I've been told by some drivers they did open the doors, but sometimes they don't even stop if there's no one boarding or alighting anywhere. And they do feel the creeps, so this bus always has another driver who rides together, to so-called keep company.

Believe it or not. Bus 858 , it used to do that when it passes through army camp base. 20years ago, I rode last bus from airport to yishun, Im the only passenger but the bell rang when approaching camp bus stop, the driver looked at me and I shooked my head hinting I didnt pressed tbe bell. Back in the days, the door needs to dropped twice to be fully opened(door remained closed during 1st dropped at the stairs area then 2nd dropped open outwards after the stairs) , the driver closed the door after one dropped, just to get rid of the bus stopping sign, the door didn't really open, any decent size human being won't be able to get through. Just seconds after the driver open and closed the door, the bell rang mutiple times(20years ago u could do that,now no longer works that way), the driver opened the door and waited a good 1min before closing again. Yes I am very scared but life goes on. I am still riding 858 last bus from airport to yishun to this day but now the camp bus stop is a popular stop and it never happened again
