ما شاء الله يا شيخ، and absolutely the Muslim will want a virtuous Muslim friend if in need of friendship. And usually the fake false Muslim friends are driven away by your Muslim firm character, it irritates them so they won't stick around for too long. In addition at a certain age, the Muslim not in need of friends due to shortage of time, with the family, raising the Muslim kids and work. When will you have to meet up really? Maybe @ the masjid for salah or occasionally and for a short time, 30 minutes to an hour. Nowadays friends will betray for 5 to 10 bucks. Sometimes pets more loyal and that's if you feel the need.

Asalam Aleikum brother. Very profound. I would say the so called friend of benefit will also benefit you if it benefits them and remind you of it similar to how the hadith forbids reminding of favors. Avoid this trap as well, the sunnah is a marker.
