Desire of liberation is a desire itself. And desire of any kind will not lead to liberation. One has to be totally surrendered to the oneness that manifest everywhere. Imo, key is unconditional love, that will liberate us. Jesus has lost himself in love. Question: If ‘I’ also be an illusion, who then casts off the illusion? Answer: The ‘I’ casts off the illusion and yet remains ‘I’. Such is the paradox of self-realisation. The realised do not see any contradiction in it. Take the case of bhakti [devotion]. I approach Iswara and pray to be absorbed in Him. I then surrender myself in faith and by concentration. What remains afterwards? In place of the original ‘I’, perfect self-surrender leaves a residuum of God in which the ‘I’ is lost. That is the highest form of devotion [para bhakti], parapatti, surrender or the height of vairagya. You give up this and that of ‘my’ possessions. If you give up ‘I’ and ‘mine’ instead, all are given up at a stroke. The very seed of possession is lost. Thus, the evil is nipped in the bud or crushed in the germ itself. Dispassion [vairagya] must be very strong to do this. Eagerness to do must be equal to that of a man kept under water trying to rise up to the surface for his life.- Padamalai: Teachings of Sri Ramana Maharishi

in a word: samadhi the more one abides in non-conceptual presence, the more the structures of the mind dissolve, like ice melting in warm water. when the ice is dissolved, there is no one to reincarnate.

As someone who was graced with the experience of samadhi, I can let you know that what brought me back was my fear of complete loss of material existence and mind. But, one thing I realised at that very moment is that as the bird that has been caged all its life would need many attempts until letting go of its prison before accepting liberation, so do we humans need to let go this “reality” for something beyond words and of infinite love and beauty. Just take a leap of faith, jump into the abyss of unknown- you will not regret a single step you make towards liberation. 😊
