Back in '75, the DEP worked perfectly for me. I took the oath on 3 Sep '75 and went active duty on 3 Dec '75. That allowed me enough time to complete Basic Training just in time to get to my Tech School in February '76. Those 3 months DEP also counted toward my Time in Service which meant my pay was slightly higher than someone of the same rank with no DEP time. I went in with a "guaranteed job" and the Air Force kept their word. No regrets! I'm proud to have served.

What annoyed me the most about my recruiter is, he filled out my form for me with me answering the questions in person (which I didn’t know I had to fill out) and when it came to asthma and broken bones/surgery, I told him I had asthma but grew out of it when I was around 18 so he checked no, when asked about surgery I said yes bc I broke my hand when I was 18 (over 10 years ago) and got it fixed, and he checked no. His explanation was it was over 10 years ago so there was no need to check yes for both of the medical stuff. When I went to meps and spoke with the doctor they brought it up grilled me about why I “lied” and sent me home. I explained that he checked no for me on both those questions and that I did in fact tell him about it so they made me write a detailed written statement. Idk why but it took over a year to get all my waivers approved but I’ll be going back to meps on Wednesday. It was a LONG process and he barely kept me informed about what was going on.

I think I might be very lucky because my recruiter has tried and helped me for sure, but not in a way where he’s trying to meet his quota. He’s not pressuring me, he does exactly what I asked like helped print me out my bases to choose, very lenient about my smoking weed correction, and given me a lot of financial advice just out of telling me because he wanted to. Making me do my own research on my jobs, and giving me time to really go through with this. Now I’m set to leave February 4th with top secret clearance. Hopefully it stays this clear

❤ I got out of the Army in 2017 for the Air Force National guard, thinking the Air Force would be what everyone says it is. I then took a federal GS position on an AD AF base. After 8 years of working with the AF, I see the truth: The AF is not professional and the people are self serving first. It has weak leadership. The NCOs are just older guys, they are not role models, they don’t lead from the front. There are no SOPs so everyone just BS’s and writes themselves good performance reviews. The Air Force brags the most but they don’t back it up. If you just want the benefits and an easy time go AF. If you want brotherhood and pride, choose anything else.

Hi, question. I want to do the HPSP but the recruiter said the Air Force wants me to be in a none competitive agreement with the other branches basically dropping all other applications and trusting only the Air Force with NO GUARANTEE that I will get one of the 3 or 4 spot available. But the timeline doesn’t make sense as Dental school decides for applicants in December but the Air Force gives out the spots by October…AND with the minimal spots while other branches have more spots I don’t feel safe putting all my eggs in one basket and forking my possible growth and financial stability. 1. Why is the Air Force so stuck up and “elite” in their approach? (At least it seems so) And 2. Why do they have to do business in such a cutthroat fashion by giving qualified applicants a clause for a none competitive agreement with the applicant? it seems like a toxic work environment right off the gates and I feel like as an applicant I have everything to loose in the exchange while they loose nothing. This makes me not want to do the HPSP through the Air Force but I wouldn’t mind serving….IF the deal was fair. I mean, if they want me to do a NCA then they should do a contract agreement ready to sign for me because it’s highly unfair to an applicant to trust wholly with no promises. Can you clarify? The HPSP is highly competitive and I don’t know why the Air Force would do this to applicants. Navy and Army are chill and basically allow you to make your own choices. No none competitive agreements. And both navy and army medicine are top notch. Please clarify?

Thanks for watching. So they pay 36 months of tuition. You pick the school you want to go to, and your GI will cover your tuition for 36 months, including books up to $1000 a year. They also pay a monthly stipend for you to live off of. You can find that amount by googling BAH calculator. Then search for the zip code you’ll be attending school. That’ll tell you how much of a stipend you’ll make while going to school. While actively serving, you also receive $4,500 in tuition assistance every year. You can use that while you serve, but once you’re out, that benefit is no longer available. I hope this helps.

I tried to join the air force, and this was really weird. Most recruiters have quotas and they'll bend over backwards for anybody who comes in, but this recruiter I went to, he had this detached, indifferent kind of attitude like, what are you doing here? When I said, I wanted to go in the air force, he was like, what for? So I went down the hall to the navy and dang near got attacked, they sat me right down and piled on the pressure to sign up and weren't about to let me go. Then the army recruiter grabbed me on the way out and called me into his office, too, but I'd already decided on the navy
@Mariescott33805 ай бұрын
My experience with an Air Force recruiter was not pleasant. When I called one, he acted like I was an inconvenience. No one told him he Had to answer the phone if he was in the middle of an appointment. I would have been okay with leaving a voicemail even though I’d expect him not to respond. I refused to call him back and decided to go Army National Guard instead. The atmosphere in the Army National Guard recruiting office was more welcoming. I went ahead and signed up for the Army National Guard and I don’t regret it.

If you go in there looking lost and just "shopping around" they will ignore because there are loads of applicants wanting to get in for a reason. I don’t think a religious exemption would work. They require all military members to get their required shots regardless of religion. It sucks, but that’s a battle I don’t think you’d be able to win. As far as recruiters go, you definitely can change, but since you’re already working with a recruiter, most recruiters won’t work with you until you are no longer working with that recruiter. What I would recommend is gather every medical record possible you can find, and have a recruiter submit them up to MEPS for a chief medical officer to look at. They’ll either approve you, or deny you. If they deny you, then have the recruiter submit your records to the surgeon general of the Air Force. That’ll be final determination for your medical history. If they deny you, then most likely you’ll never be able to join, but the only way to know is to try. I made a video on medical waivers. If you haven’t seen it already, maybe this could help you understand the process a little better. Good luck and keep updated if you try. 🤙🏽🤙🏽kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5-um6aumsx4hqc

If someone admits to smoking weed 4 years ago as a college freshman...and never since, does that disqualify him/her?
@Jodywithawhy5 ай бұрын
You can join with a prior weed history.
@mh-ht2fp4 ай бұрын
Just say no if its not in any medical or legal record. It's been a hell of a long time since you've last smoked and you will be disqualified from some jobs. You'll almost never get a polygraph and even if you do that crap is pseudo nonsense and only used for scaring stupid people. If it's not documented or there isn't a photo of you doing it, it didn't' happen. Just make sure to never do drugs ever again. There is a reason why you need evidence in court and not just "he said, she said". Take my advice, this is real experience.

Can you make a video about continuing the process of joining the military after having a baby. I found out I was pregnant at MEPS got a waiver for my asthma and have 4 more months before I can go back to my recruiter . I also took my asvab November 2019, will I have to retake it?
@Jodywithawhy3 жыл бұрын
You would have to retake it in November. As far as getting in, you’d need a dependency waiver if you aren’t married because of the baby. You will basically need to show proof of who will be taking care of your child during training. Do not give up custody of your child. That’s a no no, just get someone to watch your child during training. Once you complete training, you can reunite with your child. I hope this helps

It depends on the flatness of the feet. They will inspect your flat feet while at MEPS. There they will determine if you’re qualified.

@Jodywithawhy3 жыл бұрын
Definitely want to bring up those medical issues. The depression may be able to be cleared because it was 3 years ago. But the concussion and back pain being so recent, it could potentially temporarily disqualify you. They usually like to see at least a year in between medical conditions.

If they score high enough to get that mechanic job then that's the job the recruiter should help him get. If not, then the recruit could easily stay a civilian and get a job or go to school. BUT Neva, neva, neva go in any branch of the military on an Open Contract letting the military choose your job for you after Basic Training 😳. HELL2THENO!

Most recruiters won’t meet with you until you’re under you max weight. You can always call ask to set up an appointment, but most will say call back when you’ve met the goal. It’s not because they’re jerks, it’s because they’re busy and have a ton of applicants who are qualified and ready to go. So their focus is on them. If your recruiter meets with you while you’re overweight, they have a big heart and they believe in you. I hope this helps. Good luck.
