If he could have fired Feds, he would have just done so on day 1. You sign that paperwork, and he has your signature. That means he can do whatever he wants, and you get rid of any of your rights. By signing, you waive your right for resolution. May be difficult to get around. But the insane thing is you respond "resign" via email, THEN you receive the contract to sign. But you can't rescind your resignation. Congress has not approved this, and the people who have accepted this offer are at the mercy of Congress in March. It is against the law to pre approve funding like this. I pray that this administration does right and honor the contracts. It's going to be something to watch play out. It's not only a difficult decision but a very unfortunate one to be in.

In this case, for the majority, getting a RIF or being fired is a much better option than taking this illegal offer. Those who take the offer forfeit all rights and are not guaranteed anything. Based on how former Twitter employees were treated after taking their “Fork in the Road” email, this is not a good deal for most. This offer only benefits federal employees who were planning on leaving their positions this year with or without this offer.

@KakistocracySurvivor this offer benefits anyone with 10 years or less who aren't retirement eligible. Again, if Fed's who don't have a retirement get fired, they're done anyway. In my personal opinion, these layoffs will only last for 2-3 years until the government realizes it won't work. Those with less than 10, can roll right back in and pick up where they left off.
