I have a question. @30:40 you said, but before I got out of bed, I asked that God glorify Himself in my life today at my expense, which I always pray. Do you mean, not at my expense? If it's at our expense, that means we are contributing something to God. But we are sinners. We cannot contribute anything to God. Only God can can help us. So shouldn't it say, I ask that God glorify Himself in my life at His expense? Isn't God's riches much better than our own?

Good question! You're absolutely right. It's only the glory of God that matters. In fact, Pastor Lutzer preached a series called "Nothing Else Matters." In this message from 2010, he talks about how be began to pray this prayer a few months prior: www.moodymedia.org/sermons/nothing-else-matters/gods-glory-our-worship/. The heart behind this prayer is much like King David's. One day David was going to buy a threshing floor from Araunah the Jebusite to use to worship the LORD. And Araunah said, “I’m going to give it to you because you're the king.” David said in 2 Samuel 24:24, “No, but I will buy it from you for a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God that cost me nothing.” Everything we have is from the LORD. Worship is giving back, dedicating, in fact, sacrificing, everything we have to the LORD! Much like Abraham sacrificed Isaac or Hannah dedicated Samuel, even those we most love are in the Lord's hands. God Himself is the only one worthy of all our affection and worship. So, we give Him our all. And as we do, we find that our loved ones and our greatest joys actually find their rightful place in our lives. So, yes, God can be glorified "at our expense" because we're offering ourselves as a living sacrifice in worship (Romans 12:2). It's a posture of open-handed surrender and worship.
