You’re supposed to press “STOP” then “rewind”. You get the blue screen while it rewinds fast. I used many VCR brands. They worked the exact same way.

Omg I would literally do this watching it as a kid, I had the movie as a whole, not two parts, but I would watch it right until they were about to hit the glacier, then I would rewind it and rewatch it, so I could pretend I was still in that world and nothing bad happened, just two people falling in love, glad I wasn't the only one 😂

I had a collectors set that came with an "exact" replica of the heart of the ocean ring. I begged my parents to buy it off some informercial as I thoufht the ring would be worth millions and was an absolute steal for just $99. It was cheap crap but I cherished it until brought it to school for show and tell and somebody stole it 🥴

I am 39 and I swore I would never watch this movie and to this day I have never seen it. It also brings back bad times because Christmas of 97 we had an awful family tragedy and my cousins 19 yr old husband was killed by a drunk driver. She could not attend his funeral since she was on life support. When this movie came out spring of 98 it was like her movie and she watched it so many times in theaters. She had a memorial for him once she could walk again and played the celine dion song. Its just tainted for me.

Our VCR's always "chewed" up the tapes when we tried to rewind. The actual film tape would come flying out of the VCR'. So my mom bought a second-hand tape rewinder. Never had that issue again. 😬

Honestly, you're not missing anything. It's a story about an old woman who passionately remembers her one night stand from 84 years ago with young Jack aboard the Titanic. All while being a huge witch to her fiance who was willing to give her the world, but it was all just too much for her and as well as abandoning her mother who was on the verge of financial ruin. Then Jack freezes to death in the water in a heroic attempt to save selfish, spoiled Rose. The end.
