You know, as a member of the original cast and crew, I personally think the new cartoon Barney is very cute. I haven't seen the show. Barney was the epitome of love, acceptance, and imagination!! No room for anything that tries to denigrate the original concept. Thank you, Andrew, for these thoughtful observations. The family core values that evolved should never be exercised as a political activism or with animosity. I'm sad to hear it's being bashed without a chance to even blossom. ❤

Remember what I said when you last visited, "Bloom where you are planted." It's someone else's turn to bloom isn't it? I do wish I had been contacted by some of the new people though. I would have liked to share the initial character concepts with them. So much has been lost over the years...but, this old flower is way past her bloom!!

@@purity2706 Your contributions to the character and the original videos led to Barney being such a success! Without your Art Direction, Barney may not have been picked up by PBS (PBS discovered Barney through one of your videos!), hit the silver screen, be turned into theme park attractions, international tours, and now this new show! Whether or not people know it, you and the entire Backyard Gang crew set the dinosaur in motion to become a world-wide sensation! Had you, John, Dennis, and the rest of that crew not been the ones to produce the video with Sheryl, who knows how things may have played out! You not only bloomed where you were planted, you cultivated the soil and allowed dozens of others that came after the opportunity to blossom as well!

You’ve made a very powerful point. In my eyes, Barney will be the same, not on the outside but on the inside. I recently asked my autistic brother how he feels about the new Barney and he’s saying that he likes it. He and I are ecstatic to see the new Barney because we’ve grown up with Barney the purple and green dinosaur with yellow toes for years. That’s not to say that we don’t have our own favorite versions of Barney. He likes the Barney from 1990 and mine is Blue Barney. We’re still gonna give this new Barney a chance and still fondly remember the Barneys that we grew up with at the same time 🦖💜💚💛

That was pretty emotional. This is something that we should remember. It may not be for everyone it's for the new generation of kids I did grew up with Barney as well in the 2000s and 2010s When I was in this whole hit entertainment era A little bit of content of the Lyrick era Even a few content on the Lyons group era Even the only backyard gang VHS tape that I had and it's still one of my all time favorites, and that would be Barney goes to school. Anyways my opinion on the reboot animated series Barney costume design I would say this is better than the first attempt of birthday bash with a face based around the 2005 costume illustration that looked like nightmare fuel. Overall, really emotional.

I absolutely agree with you man! 💜💚💜💚💜💚💜💚💜💚 Barney will always be Barney no matter what he looks like or sounds like. Barney has been a true loyal friend to us for a very very long time, I honestly love the idea for the reboot, I mean I'm curious what they're gonna do the new BJ since they changed his name but I'm sure the show is gonna be great no matter what they're gonna do and I'm open minded about it and I'll definitely be watching it. Barney has been a huge part of my childhood and my life, I'm a proud autistic 30 year old with some brain damage since I was a baby, I'm still a proud barney fan to this day. Barney is about unconditional love, acceptance, Supporting one another, caring for everyone and treat everyone that you meet like a new friend. I'm also a proud autistic Disney fan as well, disney will always be special to me no matter what changes they do and Sesame street is another passion of mine besides barney 💜💚💜💚💜💚 so to those who are hating on this new barney reboot, they have no right to judge because they have no idea what the show is gonna be like yet, but I'm definitely looking forward to see what they're gonna do when the show finally premieres 💜💚💜💚💜💚💜💚💜💚💜💚💜💚💜💚 Barney will always be a friend to all no matter what, including he's a friend to me and always will be

had no idea that there was a barney adult fan community until this video somehow found it's way into my algorithm. it's interesting to see the impact that barney had over these "once children" still in effect. the creators of this show probably had no idea that their show that they created for toddlers several years ago would go on to be loved by a wide community of fans both young and old years later. it's quite wholesome really

That's a wonderful word - "wholesome" - and exactly describes what we hoped to achieve with the initial concepts of Backyard Gang. Barney is an imaginary friend, but every bit as real to children in teaching them values, love, and just good advice about dealing with life and using your imagination. This world is throwing horrible things at our children and we must give them the tools to escape those things, whether it's "never talk to strangers" or dreaming bigger dreams. When characters like Tina are scared? Barney hugs and calms her. When a child can only see an ugly yucca plant in an old frame? Think outside the frame, challenge your world to give up its marvelous secrets! When a mermaid points to a hole in the bottom of the sea? Use your imagination. If your jungle gym looks like a spaceship? Go for a ride to the Moon!! Who knows who you will meet? And Barney is always bigger than anything you encounter, your purple dinosaur friend to guide and protect you while you explore and grow!! I think many agendas get aimed at children that they don't have the emotional and mental maturity to address. It is wrong for adults to do this children. Was Barney an escape? Well, yes. If the world is too scary or stressful or confusing? Children must be allowed the freedom and protection to grow at their own pace. It would serve adults well to remember that and not force children into molds they aren't equipped to address. I hope this new show continues with those core values. Barney should never become a vehicle to promote an adult agenda. NEVER!

I said it before and Ill repeat it again, this new series is now for new audiences that will have the chance to meet Barney, perhaps in a new concept totally different from the one we grew up, but I prefer to give it a try, and maybe this could be a next big step for the Barney franchise! :D

I totally understand why alot of us are upset about the reboot coming next year and for me Im keeping an open mind Cause my special needs sister will be watching it because it's Barney. So we have.2 little nieces who's right at the age to watch Barney so knowing that Barney is coming back is very exciting and I'm very nervous about the reboot as well cause I hope like you said that the new Barney show stays true to original Barney core values and lessons that Barney have thought us. I watched Mr.rogers and Barney when I was little and they actually have reruns of mr.rogers on PBS on I think on Sunday mornings. So I recorded a few episodes and showed mr.rogers to my Nieces. They liked it

When Barney is in a mascot then he looks normal. Barney is better imagine as a physical dinosaur and with this new look the design looks incredible. I just wished they used that costume for the actual show instead of CGI.

I agree with what you said. I also think when a company acquires. Another company's/persons creation and strays too far from the source material. That's when it can be detrimental to the source material and original creaton as a whole

I understand your entire point I just think it was still doable look at Sesame Street for example ! They are still using the nostalgic live action plus animation . I don’t think it’s right for anyone to bash Barney I just know I do understand the disappointment especially now seeing the new short episodes.

To my vote I don’t think it primarily needed to change the Barney characters look just because Mattel’s wants to introduce the franchise to today’s youngsters, live action still works today! And kiddos today love the character just the way he is.

I’m going to voice my own opinion on the whole reboot. I grew up with the original Barney and some day If I have children i would introduce them to Barney. But Barney’s World is not for me, it was obviously created for small children. I do have cousins who have small children, and second cousins with small kids so this Barney is for them and I have made peace with it. The animated design looks meh, the only thing I’d like them to do is have some of original cast make cameos. Maybe have the og voice actor Bob West and some of the now adult kid actors voice characters. I think some reboots can work, I very much enjoyed the Blues Clues remake because the original Steve made episode appearances in that. I loved the original Blues Clues when I was a kid so it was great seeing what the original host Steve look like now.
