Storage is not really a case issue anymore, with higher end MB's you're getting 3-4 NVME slots and you can add in a PCIE NVME expander as well. There's enough spots for SSD's to add a lot more storage with larger capacity SSD's getting less expensive. Mechanical drives these days are best used in a NAS and left out of the main PC reducing noise at the user end. Great review, Be Quiet has done a great job with this case for the price point, you could always get the DX version for $120 or so if RGB isn't your thing and save a few bucks there.

This might be true if the drive mounts were designed properly, didn't have to pay for drive mounting accessories, designed it for properly for watercooling support, poor vertical gpu solution, no riser cable, obscenely priced. No idea how it gets 8/10. The Lancool III and just about every other case around this level are a far better purchase.

Great review and some good humour. I agree its a shame be quiet dont offer a 420mm cooler to go with this. I'm now having to debate getting their 240mm cooler instead of the 360mm cooler just so the fan sizes match.

For those planning to use a thicker 420 AIO in the top there are clearance issue's to consider with the motherboard. I have just bought this case (thanks Kitguru for the excellent review btw!) i have used a Arctic Liquid freezer III 420 in the top and the fans hit the motherboard heatsink (Asus b550) at the top. Meaning i have the shift the rad as far forward as possible and even pushing it into the wiring at the front of the case just to get it to fit. This also causes the front screw holes to be unusable. It "fits" but by no means properly. So if you want a 420 get a slimmer version. Or make sure your motherboard heatsink (The one over the i/o / vrm portion) is low enough to clear a thicker rad. Other than this issue due to my choice of hardware this case is amazing.

Could you put the arctic freezer III 420 in the front? Or even in a push/pull configuration? I’m thinking to use 3x silent wings 4 140mm infront of the front panel (inside the front mesh) and behind it then the af lf iii420. In the top and back again total of 4x silent wings 4/ or the stock wings. I already build the system (7800X3D, Sapphire 7900XT Vapor, MSI Tomahawk X670E, dark rock 5, base 800 DX). The temps are okay (max load not above 80-85*Celcius) but it’s to loud, even under 50-75% load. I want to get my pc as cold and quite as possible without getting a custom loop.

@@dnkmp I think it should fit but i didn't go that route because i didn't want the hot air from the rad being blown into the case. Check the video at the 7:30 mark for rad fitment in the front. You should measure spacing at the bottom of the case for clearance of the thicker rad and fans. Dimensions as per Arctic site 458 (L) x 138 (W) x 38 (H) mm

That fairly skinny 420 AIO might fit, but the better/quieter Artic Liquid freezer 2 420 AIO most likely will not. I purchased my Fractal Meshify 2 (case is only 7mm narrower than this one) and Arctic Liquid Freezer 420 AIO with an MSI B550 Tomahawk. Due to the height of the VRM heatsink assembly on the MB the AIO does not fit. As I found out afterwards the MB heatsink must be a maximum of 36mm to clear the cooler. Be interested if you feel up to it to try to fit the Arctic Liquid Freezer 2 420 AIO without taking a file to the MB! I know this case is taller than Meshify 2, but the space between top of motherboard and top fan/rad mount looks very similar.

I am quite sure you can install the Arctic in the front of the case. I demonstrated the installation of a chunky EK radiator but may not have mentioned there is 65mm space inside the front for the cooler and as the fans are outside the frame and behind the front cover all of that space is available. The Arctic radiator is 38mm thick so it seems to me you have loads of clearance. Leo

I love bequiet cases in the past. This one reminds me of the Montech Air 903 MAX which is much cheaper. I know the bequiet build quality will be excellent but the montech is priced very well and slightly smaller if you dont need all the space.

Another great review. I want to build two PCs each with my preferred aio, the Arctic liquid freezer 2, which is a slightly thicker aio. It's also one of the most popular aios on the market. There is not enough clearance on the SB800 between the top of the mobo and case to fit the LF2. It's shy 1 quarter of an inch. I don't think this is a coincidence but at any rate I will be using 2 Lian li evo xl cases. That's over $400 in cases and fans that be quiet is missing out on. I also would have bought 2 1200watt be quiet psus. That's close to another $600 that be quiet missed out on. I don't understand their business philosophy.

It's Thursday, February 22, 2024 as I noticed seeing the dated reply's. This video seems older than the 5 Months and your using an AMD Sapphire 6950XT. After all the latest GPU's are AMD 7900XTX or Nvidia's RTX 4090 or Nvidia 4000 series Super variants, which seem to be the elite GPU's at this time. I have tis Computer case ready to purchase but to get an answer from Be Quiet I have to show proof of purchase and a serial number. Now why would I purchase this thing before I can find out if it will fit an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 420 - All-in-One CPU AIO Water Cooler. And to make this clear the Arctic 420 AIO doesn't come with a a 420mm length radiator. Rather it has Dimensions Dimensions 458 x 138 x 38 mm (Radiator) For me I hate mm because I'm a United States Carpenter, we still use English fractions and have since our Colonies sent Englishmen Carpenters to build America, Oh My that's 600 years of English taught carpentry math. "It's great to be English!" I had to get that in! So in English an Arctic 420 AIO isn't a 420mm radiator its 458mm as stated on various websites but it's closer to 462mm or 18 3/16" 18 5/32". This may sound ridiculous, I assure you it is important. I use many other manufacturers computer cases and they always state radiator lengths that will fit their Cases yet they all fail to mention AIO's = "ALL IN ONE+ units equipped with radiators , fans and or RGB lighting. I have tried to get AIO dimensions for use in other computer cases often buying a case and I have bought a lot of Computer cases to find out only after buying them and often need (Proof of Purchase and a Serial number) from Fractal Design, Be Quiet. Lian-li, and many others. I mention these companies because they often just, "Kick The Can Down The Road" hoping some one else does the work for them, never bothering to actually help anyone. Hope you can, by asking Be Quiet to send me a reply without buying their Shadow Base 800DX.

This case is not good at all. So many missed opportunities and issues and is pretty much the same price as the EVO XL, FYI the 2 side SSDs are meant to go in the main section of the case and that plastic bit is the cable cover
