That's a good way to put it - a commitment. I was previously referring to expectations and that had my son confused :)) nevertheless, is a plan I've written for myself considered to be a commitment? :))) could I say, looking at the future tasks on the list, "OK, I'm supposed to buy this and write this, what should I do first?" Hum, that's a good question. In that case, you can think of it as there's an obligation to do something (live without that person), but he doesn't know how to do it. Ex/ Let's say your friend wants you to meet them in 20 minutes downtown. You can say "How am I supposed to get there in 20 minutes, traffic is terrible". Hope that makes sense :)

The expression "be supposed to" is supposed to be used based on munual agreement. The expression "be supposed to" in past tense reffers that the commitment wasn't conducted. For instanse, I was suppose to post my comment to the KZbin channel soon though, no comment was posted by myself in a timely manner.
