Another fun fact about perfect dodging, it skips the first attack chain for weapons so the potential damage return is even better than it first seems. i'l use the sns as example since that is what you used. if you perfect dodge and attack after the counter hit immediately, you will do the shield hit combo part of the sword 2 string combo instead of using the blade, which does more damage per hit. This is the case for every weapon, but you might not want to use it with every weapon. The Hammer for instance has a very animation lock heavy second string combo.

its nice that you have hairsyle inspired by MHW :) i likie it :) but about smiling at people - i cant smile while im playing MHN, i must be focused and serious like real hunter, also game have steep dificulty curve. i am MH veteren, i love MH since MH1 on ps2 in 2006. but still i have to focus. i can win many combats without single hit from monster, but also sometimes i make stupid mistakes, but event i dont get hit i can FAIL and loose, because of timer and not enough DPS - i can farm monsters to upgrade my grear or i can GIT GUD and lern to use perfect dodge to unleash much stronger attacs. this game is quite fun for mobile game

Perfect dodges have definitely saved my butt more than a time or two. And I’m REALLY hoping for a Halloween event too! Fingers crossed we get some awesome event layered armor… but instinct is telling me if anything it’ll probably just be a special makeup design since we’re still in the pretty early days of the game. Extra fun tips if you want to get better at dodging is dodge in the direction the attack is coming from, some monsters like barroth will catch you with the tail end of an attack if you dodge away from it because the attack swings around so far. Also if your wanting to make perfecting dodging easier, some of the tobi kadachi armor has artful dodge on it which increases the dodge window.

Interesting thing I've noticed is the combo with sword/shield does different amounts of damage depending on which hit of the combo you are at. So the first few slashes are lower damage but the last 2 hits are shield bashes doing much bigger amounts of damage

I got 3 fails in MHN 😅 dodging is so hard! And I hate losing life points. So I just move around to void getting hit. Here and there I do dodge and do counter damage hits. 😊

When I walk trails I always nod and smile at other people walking by, but with bicyclists I kinda ignore them because I've been almost run over too many times by distracted bikers or bikers fumbling around to wave back or bikers just going way too fast. Everyone else though gets a smile.

Congrats on the monetization! When it comes to calculating damage, if Now is anything like the other MH games (which it probably is), there are a few factors that go into calculating damage numbers. I’ll try my best to avoid math when explaining this. First is element/status. Every monster has varying weaknesses to the different statuses and elements. Statuses actually don’t increase the damage number directly, but it helps in other ways. Like poison does some damage over time and paralysis stops the monster from moving for a few seconds. All statuses build up to a threshold, which when met, activates the status effect. Elements just add direct damage based on the elemental weaknesses of the monster. The damage type also affects the damage number. Each monster part has different weaknesses to different damage types (called the Hit Zone Values). The different damage types are slashing, bludgeoning, and shot type damage. They come from blades, blunt weapons, and ranged weapons, respectively. It’s pretty intuitive which weapon attacks do which damage type, and some weapons can do both (sword and shield, for example). So a Rathalos’s head might be weakest to bludgeoning damage, wings shot damage, and tail slashing, for example. Trying to bludgeon the tail won’t be as effective, and neither will slashing the wings. Each individual attack in a combo also makes a difference. Using Sword and Shield as an example, the first swing does less damage than the second, even if all other factors are the same. That’s because that second swing has a (slightly) higher damage multiplier than the first swing. The multipliers can and probably will be different for each attack in each combo for each weapon. Which monster part you’re hitting also affects the damage number. It’s most notable on Barroth, where the head is super hard and takes less damage than, say, its legs. The juiciest part of Barroth is its arms. The lock-on armor skill can help target specific parts. Typically, monster heads are massive weak points, but not always (Barroth and Diablos are good examples of where that isn’t true). Whether a part is broken or not can also affect the damage number. This one is pretty self-explanatory, so I won’t go into it in more detail. I’m not sure if this is in Now, but when monsters get enraged or charged up (Tobi Kadachi gets charged up in the other games), they tend to take more damage. Something else pretty obvious is the attack stat of your equipped weapon, but some armor skills can increase the damage too. Attack Boost is the most basic damage-boosting skill, but there are others. Some skills raise affinity, which is your *chance* to get a critical hit. Critical hits deal 25% more damage, and can be increased with the Crit Boost armor skill. Critical Eye just raises your affinity, not the critical damage multiplier. Some weapons have a buffed state, notably the Longsword when it is charged up. Each attack does more. Lastly, you noticed the perfect dodge (which isn’t in the other games). I don’t need to explain this one. Happy hunting!
