That was very entertaining. You always keep it real. I think that part of your heritage makes you think the way you do. Some women are more likely to embrace their femininity. I am from England and lived in a low socio- economic area but we would look after what we had to wear and want to look our best as it was a reflection on ourselves or the family. I am someone who loves having my own personal style and not the current trend everyone else is wearing. I think it is sad when you see a person wearing something that is the latest trend but is doing nothing for them because it does not suit their body type or show off their best feature. I had an appointment with a colour stylist and that was so helpful. The reaction of my close family when I flipped out my colour chart on a shopping trip was priceless. I told them that I was using it to my advantage because all the colours complimented each other so I would never have nothing to wear as I could mix and match outfits. They called that a capsule wardrobe until I clarified. A capsule wardrobe to me is like living out of my suitcase. Where is the fun in that? I love all my clothes, but my favourite items are the ones I get complimented on. It is a pleasure to put those on time and time again.

I’m short waisted, and I think a belt in a similar tone to my top helps to elongate the upper half of my torso - even with jeans. I may french-tuck or blouse the top for a casual, relaxed look, but the belt still helps me look ‘longer’.

Great tips Jo, I have followed some similar style rules for my adult life subconsciously and others that have taken me decades to work out. But you articulated the most important ones for me and added a few more so now I can apply them when a look isn't quite working.

I agree the different companies have different sizing. I know mine for banana republic and h&m. It makes buying things online on thrift sites a real crap shoot.

I agree i am really into statement earrings atm. Necklaces worn at the same time is too much. Im also not a fan for the matchy matchy look like thoses earring and necklace sets , to me thats dated. I also prefer bags that dont have crazy bold hardware, i find that competes with my jewelery. A also i love to dress up no matter where I'm going, people actually treat you better when you make effort instead of going out to the shops in your trackies and cross. (That seems to be the Queensland fashion sadly haha)

Choose an earring OR necklace.......no. in my culture, the two MUST go together. Lol. Earrings and necklace with watch and bracelets are STANDARD. We actually wear anklets as well with the other pieces.
