It’s been over a year since I was last in Baja California Mexico and in this video, me and several of my good friends planned a 4 day overland adventure to go explore some of the Baja beaches, hit some off-road trails, find some memorable camping locations, cook up some good camp meals and just relax and enjoy the ocean sights and sounds. #overland #jeepwrangler #baja

Everybody always comments on how they need a Marco in their life, why don’t you just become the Marco in your friends lives? It doesn’t have to be cooking, but we should all strive to be more useful and selfless in our groups. We should all try to be the Marco, or the Brad, and contribute something special and unique.

I’m the Oreo Guy in my group - or the “prerun the trails and make sure everyone else can make it” guy. But mostly the Oreo guy. Any time we stop to look over a trail or stop to air up/down whatever… I sneak up and say “wanna cookie?” I think I’ve only ever heard no like 3 times

How is he not running mostly stock? Outside of the roof top tent and the gear inside what has he done to the Jeep to help improve it's off-roading capability. If anything the weight of the tent and gear make it less capable.

@@antn8387 new to the channel? Clearly I'm talking about Brad's Jeep. He has made it a point to keep it mostly stock for a few trips before changing the suspension and tires. Obviously everyone else is modded up, you think they went back to stock just because he got a new Jeep?

Loved traveling in Baja in the 80s and early 90s with buddies. La Bufadora is fantastic! Used to go out diving on the boats owned by Dave, a retired firefighter from the states. He owned a place out at the point. So many great memories! You made me want to get the gang back together and head back down again. We also would drive down to La Paz for the big Easter celebration. I really miss those trips, and am thinking about a way to get back down there again. Thanks for the video!

Brad , i have a 2020 Eco diesel Rubicon JL . Yes you should have received a small adapter spout for them larger nozzles. Very similar to an oil funnel but it’s about 5 inches long and opens just enough to let the larger nozzle in. You can look up TDI fuel nozzle adapter on Amazon.

Have always loved your videos. You have bought a diesel which is my world. I’m working on my training programs based out of Vegas on the 3.0L Jeep. (we have a shop and train techs) You have an elaborate expensive diesel emission control system. The reason why the pump nozzle was different is that Mexico uses 500 ppm sulfur content while your US Jeeps uses 15 ppm ultra low sulfur fuel. Your emission diesel oxidation catalyst does not like high sulfur. We in the light duty truck diesel world have issues going on and the maintenance factor of these new common rail diesel. Ever want to know more from a 35 year veteran about these diesel issues let me know! Keep the videos coming!
@jkulij8851
@jkulij8851 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve asked Brad about this very issue a couple of times. I’ve heard that a modern U.S. diesel will not run good on high sulfur fuel in Mexico. I have had Baja on my bucket list for some time but I am concerned about taking my eco diesel down there.

First of all, on this Veterans Day, thank you and your family for your service. All Americans appreciate what your family has provided. Appreciated the last bit on safety in Mexico but I had another question. I noticed gates that you passed through and you camped on the beach at the end. What are the regulations and/or permits needed to do something like that? I've only gone down the MX to fish so camping is not something that I know anything about, below the border.
@KansasSlim64

The gates are usually set up by someone that "owns" the camp site. Idk if this is the situation here but there's people that set up and charge a few bucks to let you in. I'm eager to find out where this is at and if that's the case.

This trip hit close to home.. my parents met on a snorkeling trip to La Bufadora back in the early 60's.. Their love of camping along the coast of baja led to many of my childhood weekends being spent traveling up and down the coast between Ensenada and Punta Del Mar in our 72 Blazer looking for new and more remote camp sites along the coast.. Even back in the 70's we marveled at how the coastline (south of the border) hadn't changed much in hundred of years, where as the second you got north of the border it was "a whole different world".. as my mom used to say.. It really is a magical place, like nowhere else along the West Coast.

I picked up a Dometic CFX3 35L fridge, and I was thinking of getting a Cook Partner stove, so I could get a Goose-Gear Camp Kitchen 2.1 and have both slide out. But this image at 29:51 of your video totally changed my mind. :) Smarter use of space. Thank you for this great video!

I’m seriously considering getting rid of my 1/2 ton and SxS. I’m leaning towards a 4 door Jeep for over landing and maybe a gently used motorcycle.

I've camped and surfed Baja for decades, I dig Brad and the way he rolls, he's ex military, but be aware if your going to camp in Baja, if there's a road there are Bandidos, if they think they can, they will. The larger your herd the safer you are!

I have run into that same issue with the nozzle size issues and have done so in the US as well. The smaller nozzle you ended up having was actually a gas nozzle and I figured out that the tabs are to protect the driver from accidentally using GAS in their tank instead of diesel. However, this creates major issues on non-standard pumps. In addition, it made my jerry can nozzle not work either. I had to cut a funnel where I can slip it onto the nozzle to make it slightly larger so that the tabs will release. I keep thinking there has to be an adapter but I have yet to find one. please include in a video if you find one and where.

Great video! I'm wondering if you guys have regeared your rigs or just have enough money for these trips because any Jeep with 33 or 35 wheels and carrying all that camping stuff swallows fuel like a Java the Hutt eats worms. Currently, I'm working on my 07 FJ Cruiser 4WD A/T to improve fuel economy, IT'S CRAZY how it burns gasoline, crazy! Well, I hope you can give me good advice to improve fuel economy.

Nice just got back from Baja. Went solo down to Loreto via Mexicali. Next time will be through Ensenada to La Paz ( Cabo way to Amaricanized) Nice rigs but anything will work considering roads are nicely paved( you don’t need $100k jeeps ) lol

Just started following you a few months ago and found out you were an HM. I am a retired HM (back in 89) NEC 8404, 8493 and 8425. We live up in the Temecula area and I just traded my 2014 Jeep for new Mojave. We tow it behind an RV. What were your NECs and how long were you in for

Hey, that water protest was because the governor of Baja note and mayor Mexicali dealt with Modelo for a billion-dollar brewery; the problem was that the state did not have enough water to support the mega brewery. This is bad, dude, now. When you drink modelo, remember this. They TOOK THREE DAYS OF WATER FROM THE STATE EACH WEEK, and that water was diverted to the brewery. Yeah, modelo was more interested in the location and not the fact that the people would only get waterfront days a week. Look it up on Google; the brewery moved to another state. The people won, but the two organizers of the year-long protest were murdered a month later. The dark side of modelo, people making a name, boxers, pilots, but the poor people have to give up their water rights as human beings. 😔

Great video of our region. SWEET 'chuck wagon'!! Next time you hit Mercado Negro, go the other side near the front and get some of the fattest Cortez prawns you've likely ever eaten for only 250 pesos a kilo ( which works out to about 7 bucks a pound U.S.) Fantastic grilled, sauteed in garlic butter, or even cut up to make a gourmet ceviche that you'll never forget. YUM!

Brad. Love your channel. My wife, and long time best friend, have been studying and learning. We are ready to make join the Jeep family. Wanted to ask you. We are looking at a 2021 Rubicon with the ecodeisel. Will end up getting a roof tent etc. We have looked at the various lifts and have watched your reviews. Can you make a recommendation on a lift? Should we go 35 or 37? We will mainly do trail riding. But some occasional rock crawling. Thanks! Wesley USAF retired
