My buddy in Inuvik tells me the washout on the Tuk Highway has been repaired, and the highway reopened - although crews will be continuing work on the affected area on Wednesday.

OK, you said you decided to go early, to avoid the bugs, but also say it’s probably too early to cross the rivers. Does not compute. 🤔

Brad I drove to Tuk last August from Minneapolis. There was sun in Dawson City and it then rained for the next 5-6 days. The Dempster was a muddy mess all the way to Tuk but well worth the trip. The rivers were so low that they were trucking supplies North to Inuvik and Tuk and given the mud, the trucks were struggling getting down and up to/from the ferries. Hope the ferries run and you make it all the way. Cheers

Canada's National bird is the Mosquito! LOL! I know this is late, but for the benefit of others: We drove up to Calgary from Corona, CA (up the 15 from you) and then across Canada to Ontario for a Family Reunion. One thing you have to keep in mind is road construction happens during the summer months due to the winters up there. Expect delays. Safe travels!

I lived in Fairbanks AK as a kid after my father was transferred to Ft Wainwright. It was the mid late 80s. Flights were crazy expensive and we were an Army family, so we drove. My father had the keys to the state - it was locked off from the public back then - and one summer we drove north to prudoe bay and all the way back south to Valdez. We did 3 round trips from Fairbanks to Alabama in the time I was there. 6 trips over the AlCan Hwy when a lot was still gravel. We cracked a windshield every trip, but never broke down. I never made it to Barrow and the Arctic Ocean, will have to make it back someday. We just called it camping, no over landing back then.

Curious, have you aired down at all for the dempster, if so, how much?

Being a veteran of several trips up and down the Alcan Hwy, you guys have had super good luck with weather!! When it is sunny it is a super scenic drive. BTW- winter time drive can be an adventure!

I’m excited to follow your trip! I live just outside Toronto and have been interested in doing this drive. I may have this as a back up for this end of summer / early fall, as I want to do a road trip to Utah from Toronto.

If you are thinking about a detour to Alaska on the way back south, take the Taylor highway from Dawson to Tok, as the views are spectacular. And if you swing by Fairbanks feel free to give me a shout for day trails you could explore.

We drove the Dalton Highway last year up to Coldfoot above the arctic circle. We stayed in the work camp overnight. Its been hard to describe to people how beautiful the drive was.

I haven't been on the Dempster hwy, but I have gone up the Dalton hwy.. Dalton is really beautiful and saw a lot of musk ox.. camped by a river one "night" and woke up with them surrounding the bronco. Also saw a lot of duck and some fox. Woke up with a moose basically looking into the roof top tent while having it's breakfast (that was at Denali) Was already wanting to get back up north, your videos are really helping to push me to do that sooner lol
