Hi Roger, I’ve noticed in your recent shorts that you might be a bit bothered by the salmon comments. I don’t believe your viewers actually hate salmon; it’s more of an inside joke amongst your most dedicated fans. No, I truly detest the things as a food fish. Awesome sport but no matter how they're prepared (even fish cakes) they are inedible. And I do know how to bleed and fillet fish. I have tried every suggested method of eating Australian Salmon and I can't stand them. Maybe it's something to do with the Western Australian sub-species being different?

Hi Roger, I’m a 39 year old female. I was lucky growing up, my dad would take me fishing for whiting every weekend up to Bribie Island, I think to escape from crap going on at home. I loved it! For years we did that and we always bought live worms from the tackle shop which were expensive back then. My Dad’s now doing his own thing and I have a little 5 year old girl. With your videos I think I’m going to take her to try get some beach worms and go fishing, just the two of us. I’ve been studying your videos. Thanks so much 🙏

Hi Roger, just passing on some advice I was told when I was around 12 (now 65). I was fishing off a wharf and got a few good leatherjackets as did the old timer next to me. He said "forget about all the advice about fishing son. A lot of fisho's will tell you don't fish at low tide, while others will say don't fish at high tide, and others will say don't fish a run-in or run-out tide. Others will say don't fish a full moon, and others will say don't fish a moonless night. Fish are where you find them!". What a philosophy and I've stuck to it. Who cares if you don't come home with a full bucket or nothing at all. The main thing is to get out there and have a good time. Getting fish is a bonus. The last thing I want to think when the time comes to leave this mortal coil, is to say "I wish I'd gone fishing more".

Main struggle i have is that around perth the beaches are large and barren of any structure, and there are no beach worms. If i buy the worms they are pumped up with red dye that stains my hands. So my main baits are pilchards, prawn, squid, wwhitebait and octopus. I always take a little bit of all of them. Thanks for your informative show and i just love watching you fishing, your camerawoman does a great job too. Thanks alot

Hi Roger do you use a light wire rig for your Taylor, in South Africa they are called Shad and most times they’ll bite through the line unless honked in the side of the mouth hence when the schools of Shad run, the guys rig up with a light wire traces. It’s a great eating fish if fresh and handled properly otherwise it goes soft and is not so good. Does this also apply over there.

Hi Roger. Great videos. What are your thoughts on the types of reels? In this video you're using what we refer to in South Africa as a coffee grinder (spinner), but I don't like them very much. I use multipliers on all my rods. I have from an old Penn 500 and Penn 40A, which are about 40 years old, to the latest Shimano and Diawa multipliers. I find that the reel sitting on top of the rod more comfortable and I tend to cast a lot further with a multiplier. I have also found that the feedback from the line with the eyes facing upwards on the rod to be a little better. Being that I fish with a multiplier, I have more eyes on my rods and they are smaller. I would like get your feedback on this, as I have noticed that all the latest rod and reel setups seem to be for the spinner rigs.

My number 1 struggle is coming to terms with the price of a standard Wod and Weel, the price of tackle, the knots, the poundage of line, the sizes of hooks, the; not understanding why I have big loops running around on my reel, the price of fuel to travel 3.5 hours to the beach. And then I see the price of fish fillets in the fish markets! smh. And you just do it, you know when, how or why things happen or don't happen, you recognise what the fish is, you know what hook and line, you know what the difference between light line and other line...... so, my main struggle.

Roger from Pennsylvania. You said that you chose that beach because it is protected, and we’re casting close just behind the waves, not in the area stirring up the food. Why did you determine there were a lot of fish in the calmer waters beyond the breaking waves?

Because fish aren’t going to be sitting getting hammered by waves they will be just behind it eating the things getting stirred up from the waves
