I take my hat off to you Roger. I’m an angler myself (upcoming and somewhat training myself). My father used to teach me fishing on rocks, beaches, rivers and dams growing up. I fell out of it for a few years but have recently gotten back into the game. I cannot tell you how much you motivate me to get back out and give it another go almost every day. I couldn’t imagine the lengths you go to to film your content as well as reel in some fish. I’m incredibly grateful that I’ve stumbled across your channel. Thank you so much. Luke

I used to fish for Jews at Nth Narrabeen in Sydney just on dark using live yellowtail.missed landing so many until I watched another guy fish.had a chat with him and he said you strike too early.he said they tend to hold the bait in their lips, then take a run and swallow the bait. He was spot on I landed a few after chatting with him.take care Roger enjoy your Easter

I have a lanyard with a pair of nail clippers on it. When I need to cut a line, I can grab my nail clippers without having to take them off the lanyard. I just bring the line to the clippers. It has been a very handy spot for when I need to cut off a gut hooked fish, with the bonus of them being impossible to drop and donate them to the Pacific Ocean. I got sick of biting lines when I am running >30lb line. I also tuck a damp cloth nappy in the back of my belt. Handy to wipe my hands on, dry my knife after swishing it in the water, wipe sweat from my eyes, easy to grab when I need to grab hold of an armed, aggressive fish.

Gosh you pick great beaches Roger. Good line loop on the squid. WOW that looks like a great bait. Glad to see you waiding out. I used to fish beaches at low tide before the gutters filled with fish to give me a chance ro burley up the gutters on an incoming tide. I always had to waid out to cast over the sandbars at Liptrap south of Ten Mile Creek

Well done again Noticed some difficulty with rod when you get the fish off. Get yourself a shopping bag with a zipper like the supermarket freezer bag . Easy to put on your belt. Just put the reel in the bag and lay it down. Cheers mate

I could watch you fish all day Roger, such good info. I grew up on the Murray river & have tried beach fishing quite a few times without success. I successfully got some nipper bait a couple of weeks ago & caught my first fish off the beach, but it was only about 3" long. I was still rapt. Looking forward to having another go soon. Cheers

Hey Roger, been waiting for this new moon video. I had a similar session last new moon and was wondering whether you fished that night. Out of Flathead, Dart, Whiting, Bream, Tailor, and a juvenile Mullaway only 3 whiting and stonker bream were keepers. All caught on worms I had frozen. Gave up before the high tide because like you too many little rays. Pulled the plug after a double hook up of a ray and banjo shark. Yep New Moon is the go. Your beach fishing tips work cheers.

What a night Roger! All those jewfish! Finally! Nice to see you land a shark. You did not use the “world’s deadliest rig” during that session? I wonder if the wire trace would have landed more sharks/tailor? Can you supply the details of the light 8 foot rod and reel you used with the soft plastic? Thanks! See you on the Zoom next time. JT

Quick one, when using a soft plastic do you have a swivel between the main line and leader or just one tied to the other?

Great night for fishing. I’m surprised with all the rays you get that there aren’t more sharks on the beach. Just wondering if you have flounder off your beaches you fish ? You have many species off your beaches I’m not familiar with except the snapper bluefish (Taylor)Also, your whiting have softer mouths, whereas the ones off the coast of mid Atlantic US coast have lots of teeth, but are equally good eating fish. Thanks for your videos!

Love watching the vids Roger. I’m surprised that I haven’t seen you use pippies or prawns (not supermarket bought prawns please) off the beach. I reckon a bait “competition” might be quite entertaining. Worms v pillies v squid v prawns v pippies v nippers. My guess is that worms would out-fish everything but would love to see you put on a show like that. Cheers mate - keep up the great content.

Can you show the knots your making on the hooks? I've been trying to thread my worms onto my line like you do (you make it look so easy!), but I can never get it over properly. More often than not, I end up "splitting" the worm.
