Never had water up around the RV but have been stuck in a campground twice because all the roads in and out were flooded. We had plenty of food and stuff so we just waited for the water to subside. One time we feed the neighbors and their 3 kids because they had planned on going home that day. Pretty.sure you can get a new spring for the jack at Amazon.

I was at Folley Beach SC when a hurricane skirted the eastern seaboard. Tons of wind and rain. I had a secondary chore to perform while there, spreading a friends ashes in the sea. I waited as long as possible until it finally seemed calm enough to do it. A short prayer and I cast them just as a huge gust hit. Ended up covered in ashes including in my mouth. He'll always be with me and the holiday inn parking lot.

A Beka! Wonderful program! Since you were in Destin you should have stopped off at Pensacola Christian College! The college kids put them together. It would have been a real blessing for the students and gave the kids a chance to see how thier books are made.

ABEKA is an amazing homeschool program. Their phonics program assists children in becoming avid readers. We used ABEKA with our daughter until she was in the 6th grade. Then transferred her to LUOA (Liberty University Online Academy). She is now a senior in High School in the LUOA Dual-Enrollment program and is graduating in May 2021 with an A.A. and her High School diploma. She will be 17 years old and have finished both Freshman and Sophomore years of college. The tuition is cheaper than regular College tuition. Thus, means we will only be paying for two years of college instead of for.

Love the Florida panhandle area! The emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico with white quartz sand beaches. LOVE. Glad you got to experience it, though it was not during the best of weather! We stayed at Henderson State park Feb 26- March 4, 2020. (Then hurried home due to the covid scare). Super cheap, like $30 each night I think. Beautiful Destin beaches and lots of fun things there, though costly. Hope you got to see the Destin Harbor Boardwalk. Did you go to any of the (several) state parks while you were there? Fabulous and fun! Bonus: it all counts as homeschool hours! We have reservations at Topsail Hill Preserve, Santa Rosa Beach (10 miles east of Henderson) for last 2 weeks of November. Look that one up! They have beach access and also a swimming pool! State Park= cheap cost! Also rated as #1 or in the top 10 in all of Florida. Excited to go there. November 30th is when hurricane season is over. LOL Possible snow coming soon here in Missouri, as you probably know. Can hardly wait to get back on the road. We voted absentee, so now we can go! Homeschoolin' on the road! (Still hopin' we run into each other!) Join us on Sanibel Island or the Everglades and The Keys for x-mas and New Years!

I recently moved to the panhandle, just about 15 miles east of Miramar Beach. We had over 18" of rain from Sally. Docks all along Choctawhatchee Bay, just north or Miramar were destroyed. It's exciting weather whether you like it or not!

We used abeka, but not the virtual classrooms. I much prefer the old school of teaching out of books. Our oldest is 10 and I'm having to give that up a bit to help explain math. We switched mostly over to ACE Paces.

Glad my Class A sits well above others, I drove out of 3 feet of flooded Ogeechee River bottom lands, others "waited to see", 4 weeks later when access was available in my 9" lifted mud truck there were dozens of totaled RV's & plenty of washouts. Next time consider Navarre or Henderson Beach.

We were in Panama City Beach during Hurricane Sally, which is about 45 minutes from Destin. Sorry y’all had flooding. Our trip was cut short after our 12th floor condo flooded from the strong winds & rain. The ocean was waaay too close to the condo - nearly all the way to the foundation. I was worried too. I’m glad y’all are safe.

I have done that drive and the one thing that gave me hesitation and white knuckles were the wind storms going North this time of year. Extremely hard to drive my RV camper in. Stay safe and take your time.

Love to see a video on the home schooling. We are thinking about rvinh full time with our daughter and her 7 yr old son who is in the second grade at this time. Over forty years ago we used the Abeka curriculum while we traveled as evangelists and it was fantastic. When we stopped and public school was now the option, they were so far head of their classmates. Our tutor, who learned to read by "sight recognition" of words actually learned phonics via the course work for the kids.

Abeka is a great cirriculum. K-5 here. It gave our girls a wonderful start in reading and comprehension. They were always a couple of grades or more ahead in every subject when they went to public school, 6-12.

I’m sorry I didn’t clarify that our girls went to a private Christian school K-5. I started teaching in an elementary school after our youngest entered the 6th grade. The tuition for her became a little more than we could handle at that time. Our girls are 45 and 41. Both have college degrees and graduated with honors! I truly loved the Abecka as a teacher!

I was there for Delta, but it was not as bad in Destin as Sally was. We saw a lot of previous damage on our way there starting just south of Montgomery Alabama.
