binigbit in Tagalog us ginataan made with coconut milk, sweet potatoes, Saba banana, gabi, jackfruit, and sago. Bilo bilo is made with coconut milk, glutinous sweet rice made in balls, jackfruit and sago or tapioca. They are both cooked the same way. By watching your vlog, now I’m thinking of making some. As always, Filipinos are so giving. Best regards and take care

In Bicol, we call it ginataan. It consists of coconut milk, combinations of sweet potatoes (yellow and purple), taro root, bananas, ripe jackfruit, tapioca or bilo bilo, cassava and palm sugar.

Making binignit in Canada is very expensive Kyle. I cooked them only when sweet potatoes were cheap from California. The purple sweet potatoes from Hawaii and China are the most expensive one here in Canada. I will definitely cook them when we’re back to our place in Mabini. Yummy Binignit.

Hi! Kyle, Binignit is LIFE🙂 As a kid my late mother, on Good Friday, cooked as many as she can find different kind of vegetables, and Good Friday is the day my late father always looked forward to spend religiously. Binignit was always a snack, Yes it’s a lot more work if you prefer to cook with more ingredients; peeling & dicing the root crop (Gabi, camote, Ube) plus ripe saging saba, other items like tapioca, sweet rice balls, diced ripe jackfruit, other region have different options as well. I prefer to eat Binignit warm, some prefer it chilled. BTW, I am always touch by your kindness with other people. I grew up respecting human beings regardless of status, we siblings were brought up that way, and taught that way. We ate in the same table, the same food with my parents tenants, rice field/farm workers, household helpers etc. So, I can relate how you treat the people who work for you. God Bless You. 🙏🙂🇺🇸🇵🇭

The tropical flower is called Hibiscus, Gumamela in Tagalog (also known as "the perfect flower"') which is commonly used in Biology class. Binignit in Tagalog is Ginataang halo-halo. Ginataang bilo-bilo is just glutinous rice, coconut milk and sugar, with pandan leaves (optional) for it's aroma. It's good to see how people in the Philippines haven't changed for being so hospitable and friendly. I miss being in the province! Mabuhay ka Kulas! Kudos to the "gang"! ; ) : )
