Beach House Blends Sustainability with Coastal Charm

Burnt Earth Beach House in Anglesea, Victoria, replaces an old shack with a sustainable, multi-generational retreat inspired by the natural landscape. The design features custom terracotta bricks, hand-crafted in collaboration with Klynton Krause, which reflect the tones of the surrounding cliffs. Thoughtfully integrated around a central Eucalypt tree, the home emphasizes energy efficiency with solar power, hydronic heating, and heat exchange systems. Terracotta tiles, insulated walls, and a concrete slab enhance thermal performance, while operable blinds and spotted gum timber provide comfort and style.
