@@Tommygunz838 Tommyz, I'm a filmmaker and I have already done one wild video for Beach House's PPP. I'm currently putting together an idea for this song, Somewhere Tonight. It's , me in Chicano baby-form (computer animation) slowing driving by in a Low Rider, and this becomes interspersed with the mafia expresso-coffee scene from David Lynch's "Mulholand Drive." So it's sort of a video about how all of the chaos and tensions of the world still do not affect my calm and peace as I cruise by in all in my shiny Low Rider. I also see the key of G (this song) as flow and the key of fluidity. Aquamarine. Therefore I'm "cruising." If you have a sec, I'd love to hear your reaction to my PPP video. It's here at _The Acoustic Rabbit Hole,_ and the title is: Piss-Poor Planning. Beach House's PPP. A film by Frank Montoya.

Thank Your Lucky Stars has become one of my favorite albums recently. Personally, it feels like Beach House coming full circle in their discography/stuff they've explored up to this point. I find elements of all their previous albums in TYLS, as well as new tricks thrown in. Not too sure if anyone has talked about this, but I adore what seems to be the story in the album of a girl going from childhood to old age. Contrary to what many believe, I do think that every song on this album is essential. They all fall perfectly in their place, and both the opening and closing tracks truly feel like a beginning and an end. I won't lie, at the time that both Depression Cherry and TYLS were released I firmly believed DC was the superior album, but as the title suggests, it's more of an emotional piece to accompany you during brooding times. Man oh man did TYLS grow on me. It's such an interesting album sonically as well, it sounds rather full despite the "skeletal" structure. Rough Song is one of the most tender songs I've heard and Elegy to the Void is just insane. The lyrics in Common Girl get me every time. As mentioned earlier, this album feels like Beach House in a return to form, while remaining new and fresh. For a brief moment, it seems like the story of our enigmatic heroine omnipresent in all of Beach House's music has come to an end; yet all the same it seems like we've barely scratched the surface of all her mysteries.

I first became a fan with Teen Dream, Bloom blew my mind, and Depression Cherry broke my heart. Thank Your Lucky Stars returns full circle to the hazy childhood memories from their debut but with the more cinematic atmospheres and textures found in Bloom. The album seems to be a story of lost innocence. The more I listen to Thank Your Lucky Stars, the more I realize this is my favorite #BeachHouse yet. It's simultaneously their darkest and dreamiest album. "The Traveller" is road music for wandering souls, “Elegy to the Void” & "Rough Song" both belong in an oneiric film, and “Somewhere Tonight” is the most perfect song #BeachHouse has ever written.

The live version they're playing of the song "Elegy" in 2016 is mesmerizing. They did it at Coachella weekend 1, April 16. Highlight of the show, for me. I caught it via the yt livestream. They add a whole long, rousing instrumental section at the end that's mind blowing that transforms the song from the studio version. It's got three guitars going simultaneously, reminding me a little of Sonic Youth but with somewhat less "noisy" guitar styles than SY. Beach House as a 4-piece band works so well. That whole Coachella BH set is so good. Sadly, the Coachella organization is draconian about people upping Coachella sets to yt, etc. They block them or have them taken down. But fortunately, there's still a torrent version of the video findable online if you're a "pirate" at heart.

Elegy to the Void - Transcendent 8. Rough Song - Cannot Put Into Words. Thank you, Beach House. 9. Somewhere Tonight - Glorious!!! Etched into the vinyl between the grooves and label of the Depression Cherry record are "Thank Your Lucky Stars" and "she's a fire in the night" (lyrics from all your yeahs). So obviously this album was not a surprise, it did not come out of nowhere

+Josh Guzek I'm intrigued, care to elaborate?
@iJoshDG9 жыл бұрын
XDRory a lot of people make this album out to be a surprise thing, which it kind of was, but they put a lot of thought into it and it was meant to happen sometime based on the fact that it is written on the record itself
@TheMrQwertyify9 жыл бұрын
+Josh Guzek But it was a surprise to the public, there wasn't any promotion for it or pre-sales or singles released until the week of it's release. It's also important that it wasn't given to music critics prior to the release, but at the same time the fans received it. Of course it was not a surprise to the creators, they had to produce it and write it, but the etching was merely hints. I see what you mean, but they wanted to make something that was thought out as much of a surprise as possible.

Got to stand 2 feet away from him and watch his fingers go. This was pre-DC days tho. He keeps getting better and better

Alex is amazing. I feel like he doesn't get the credit he deserves because everyone is so blown away by Victoria's gorgeous voice. I get that, but without Alex there would be no Beach House.

Victoria must have gone through some emotional state in Summer to be able to write these many songs and lyrics. I wonder what triggered it

I am just back from Bonnaroo 2019 where Beach House at This Tent was the highlight of my weekend. It seemed like they played "everything" in the catalog but of course that was impossible. They hit so many highlights. The back-lit scene and our heroes in silhouette made clear we were here for the music - that the show starred the music and the primary human element was us, the Bonnaroovians, the fans and newcomers dancing and shaking totems and staring spellbound at the light show, while our favorite tunes came clear in every note from right up there. It was heart-wrenching, honestly, an emotional roller-coaster ride. Here is a huge nod of gratitude to Beach House for Making Bonnaroo Better. Love from Tennessee.

Wow not to say Depression Cherry wasn't good because I think it was a great album say what you want but this album Thank Your Lucky Stars has that Bloom feel to it, when I first heard Bloom it was something Ive never heard because each track flows into the next song so perfectly with unique I have never expedienced in my life it was and is a perfect from front to back and Thank Your Lucky Stars has that feel it. 2 albums in one year this is great and this album is amazing!!

+Terrell Thomas I think this is Beach House's best album. It returns to their earlier sound while also still containing the cinematic cyclical nature of Bloom.
