I like your videos nice beach starts:) i want to buy the hm 72 mast but is it thicker than the alu ? Is the glide worse ? How happy are you with the sirus 50cm stab ? Would help alot to know. Thank you
@yohann.roussel Жыл бұрын
Thanks 👍 The 72 is thicker than the alu yes, maybe drags more I don't really know, it's dragging more than the 70 HM that's for sure. I need its stiffness for the Sirus 156 anyway, I lose too much from balance issues when trying to pump the 156 with the 70 HM. I can do with the 136 on the 70 HM, I feel the difference in stiffness but it doesn't cost me so much as with the 156. I really liked the Sirus 50 stab for the beach starts, it felt like it was really helping by giving me more time and more tolerance on my position. I didn't really try it on my usual dock yet, so I can't really tell if it's better for just pumping but for the short distances I made during the holidays it felt nice. With the Sirus 116 it really changes the rythme of the pumping to something slower but with more legs force, compared to Fluid H 42 or 38.

Yohann, i want to learn beach start. Im 76kg, 180cm. I want tu buy a brand new set-up. Woukd you recommend sirrus 136, or should i go with Curve H line (xxl) . Thank you for your time to respond.( Id like to use it secondary for dock start). Martin

I didn't try the Curve H in beach start so I'm going to give you a guess. I would recommend the Sirus because it's more flat than the Curve H, so that means you have a few cm less to climb up and you get more ground effect (and ground effect gives you glide).

Merci
@yohann.roussel Жыл бұрын

@@yohann.roussel I understand that the 156 requires somewhat straighter lines. Does this mean that small downwind waves are easier to ride with the 136? I already asked for your thoughts and have now acquired an X-Over2 in XXL. This is going to provide me with a lot of fun. Today on the Rise, I noticed that the mast is quite wobbly, and I have to make a lot of corrections, especially at the beginning. Starting today, I'm into run-starts without jumping, and the error rate is much lower! Thank you for your tips! Could I, as a Swiss beginner, become an Ambassador? I think Gong has a very good strategy and selection... 😇

@@janschenk85 I do downwind waves surfing only with the wing, I'm not even sure I tried the Sirus L for that. I got a few wake thief or incredibly small waves catches this summer when training the beach start. Wake thieving was easier with the 136 because I'm consistent enough with the launch and then handling my balance was easier on the 136 than the 156. For the small waves, they were tricky because really small and bouncing back from the beach and two surrounding walls, I only had significant success with the Sirus 116, I wasn't agile enough with the bigger ones to catch more energy than it cost to follow them.

@@janschenk85 great to hear that it helped thanks for the feedback 🤗 About being recruited as ambassador, they have a dedicated page about it : www.gong-galaxy.com/equipe/

@@yohann.roussel Now I'm riding the X-Over2 XXL with the old setup, the V1 Mast. However, this doesn't seem to work much better than the Rise setup. Small waves are nearly impossible to glide even little distance, and the stall speed is higher than with the Rise foil. What do you recommend I get next? I'm thinking of the V2 Mast and the fuse with a Curve Stab L. My priority is dockstarts, but runstarts are also possible. Thanks for your feedback.
