THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Thank you for putting a tutorial on making Lavender Stalks on KZbin! I'm a disabled U.S. Navy veteran who had another disabled veteran teach me how to make jewelry a few years ago, to have something productive to do. Last year I wanted to learn how to make life-sized flowers out of beads, but the french seed-beading books made it seem too complicated. I found your video through a search on the internet. You are such a wonderful teacher!!! You thoroughly explain and show each step and then tell us to make the flowers our own. I now make the stalks via one long wire of beads. The next flowers to learn are roses, tiger lilies and so many more, that is thanks to you! Thanks so much for giving this old gal something fun and beautiful to create, make others smile! :)

Thanks Lauren I used spare wire and beads and pleased with results but can see the necessity of using the right colour wire

You're welcome! I like to match wire to beads as it shows less and enhances the bead color. But back when the art first started they only had silver colored wire, so all the antique flowers on the market are made with this. Many countries today only have access to silver colored wire. So it's common and normal to not match the wire.

If you separate the floss then put it back together it should twist less. It's something we do in embroidery. You could also try a bit of beeswax on the floss.

The florist stem wires can be found in the floral department of any craft store. They usually come in a little package.
