Yes, Always wash by hand. Because smocked clothing is delicate and hand-sewn, it’s important to be gentle with it when you’re cleaning it.

I thought smocking would be so much more difficult than that. It looks so complicated and pretty but the stitches are really simple! Honeycomb smocking was found on aprons in Europe as early as the 14th century CE I believe. So it’s a fairly old way of making things look pretty!

Ya, smocking is easy, if that gathering the fabric is made easy. Previously I used dotted papers iron onto transfer dotts on to the fabric. Now they are not available. Putting dotts is the toughest job now.
