What lovely pieces! However, I would worry that the polish would chip off. I think doing the back would prevent this.
@ashadelic2 жыл бұрын
If you do it on the back instead it gives a very cool magnified effect. :)

I make jewelry for my jewelry shop that I own. I am always looking for fun and creative new pieces. I have seen a lot of people do this or their version of it. I really like it and think that I might give it a try. Your pieces look great. You did an awesome job on them!

Do they need to be sealed with something
@hkreations51088 жыл бұрын
They turned out very pretty! When I did the cabs, I painted the flat side and the clear rounded top, magnified whatever I painted. Painting the cabs is the same as painting your nails, just in Reverse. If you want your glitter to really sparkle, put top coat on first, then glitter, then a opaque back coat. I've stamped the back, then clear coat, then added colors for a different look. When I'd make a mistake, it was an easy fix, acetone on a Q-Tip and I was good to go. E6000 was my glue of choice to attach a bail or backing.

They look so beautiful! I always made them by appling nailpolish on the back of the glass cabochon, but I will surely try your way.
@beadedjewelrydiva9 жыл бұрын
adamantix They do turn out lovely. The more layers of clear topcoat you put on, the more depth you dive them. :)
@wheelerbeauty848 жыл бұрын
These are beautiful! However if you paint on the bottom side of the cabachon it works better. The polish won't chip. I make earrings all the time.
@shariannlau59068 жыл бұрын
Hi! how do you do it so the nail polish won't chip? Many of my cabochons that I marble paint with water chip off, pulling the bail off with it.
@beadedjewelrydiva8 жыл бұрын
Hi Shari -- the marble painting is a very thin coating of polish, so you will need to put on several coats of clear polish. And as Jess has suggested, you can try and give the back a coat of clear. Since I typically put mine in some sort of setting I don't usually paint the back -- but if you don't use a setting, give the back side a nice coat.
@shariannlau59068 жыл бұрын
+Beaded Jewelry Diva Thank you for your tip. I have tried with numerous layers but after a few wears the nail polish pulls away from the cabochon. Any other tips?
@wheelerbeauty848 жыл бұрын
+Shari M I use settings as well and I still paint the back and not the front.
@wheelerbeauty848 жыл бұрын
+Beaded Jewelry Diva I put mine in settings also and I still only paint the back.

Have you used diamond glaze on these tree trays? I have some of the same trays with the tree on the back and just wanted to see if the metal would react to the diamond glaze.
@beadedjewelrydiva7 жыл бұрын
Hi Bethany, no I haven't tried Diamond Glaze. To be honest, a lot of time I use clear gel nail polish! (Of course that requires a UV/LED light.). :D

+KitKat Hi, and thanks for your comment! For things like pendant backings, I usually get them from either Amazon or FusionBeads. These are ones like I used in the video (from Amazon): amzn.to/1HbDEEH

Really beautiful idea! I would love to make some to use in bead embordery. Instead of using a backing, I just want to bezel them onto the material. Where do I find the glass cabachons? What size did you use? Thanks so much for an inspiring video.

+Beverly Hart Hello! I used 25mm cabs for this, although 18mm-20mm would well too. I got them on Amazon: amzn.to/1YU07J2 I am glad that you enjoyed the video! :)
