I LOVE making nail polish jewelry! One thing I've picked up is to use blue tac (the putty stuff people use to put up posters and that) and fix it on a board or table while working so you don't end up with as much nail polish on your hands and make it less likely that it'll move on you. And if you mess up and you're using glass cabochons, you can grab some nail polish remover and clean it up.

I prefer to use UV resin instead of the two part kind when doing projects like this. It dries within minutes with no air bubbles. I got my UV resin and small light from Amazon a while back, but Michael's carries a lot of UV resin jewelry supplies now. But nail polish and glass cabochons are how I first started learning how to make jewelry. Fun stuff!

For the 3 that keep leaking, I usually have a small box to use as a raised platform and let the loops hang off the edge, keeping the frame flat. I also personally use a thin uv resin layer first, then paint it with polish, then finish the top with another uv resin layer. I love doing mini pieces of art! 👍

This is just fantastic. I think I would enjoy doing this. Thanks Matt for always bringing something new and exciting to us. Do you have to coat the back with anything after you're finished or is the nail polish enough? Just worried about it scratching off.

also works good with fimo clay, and idd epoxy, bud sinds it's small amount i like to use uv resin for it.

You can also drop it in water, swirl it around and dip the cab onto the top of the color and it will adhear. While holding the cab though; you have to run a toothpick around it so you don't pick up too much. Let it dry and voila, you have a piece of marbled glass.

They look cool and Ive considered doing that but was a bit worried as to how it would come up - my fear of ruining stuff is my big issue, but Im learning to let loose thanks to you and your videos. If you get your finger prints on them on the inside that could be cool to leave the neices and nephew, or if you do anything naughty lol . E6000 works reasonably well and you can get those little already cut little mirrors - if they look dull its because they have a protective coating on them .... with the leakage because of the way the little hangers sit - maybe sit them all on a bit of that florist foam and push them into that? it should make them sit level :D

I'm thinking UV resin & Gel Nail polish or Thick Builder Gel for gel nail extensions is very similar to eachother. I can't wait to make my first piece! 💜love your work, Thanks
@ColdVenomGames Жыл бұрын
Please for the love of dog, get some thick plastic and cover your table and use enough to tuck under and tape to underside of table with painters tape. And alot of times isopropyl alcohol will remove wet nail polish and other paints from the table and sometimes even the dried paint. Acetone works but I couldn't use it on mine as it lifted off the top finish. But plasticing your table is 100 percent beneficial!!!!! You remind me of me....bull in a china shop the first time of anything and then you learn how to prevent what you did the first time.

You could start with a thin layer of UV resin and then use nail polish.

This is a really interesting project... but I'm not too sure how well they are going to last... Nail polish isn't permanent. It yellows with age, and any alcohol, or acetone/acetate cleaners (including jewelry cleaners) will destroy the nail polish. It does look like a fun project though!
@LaynieFingers3 жыл бұрын
This is fun, but be aware that the clear polish can turn very yellow over time. That being said, enjoy what you're doing- experimenting keeps life interesting! 😁
@user-pd7il3xz5j3 жыл бұрын
Is there something else that won't yellow?
@LaynieFingers3 жыл бұрын
@@user-pd7il3xz5j I'm honestly not sure... I just know that clear nail polish can yellow fairly intensely.

This is the first diy/craft video I've watched where the person did not give any Fs and just used what he had and started creating something. He's only a slight bit more haphazard than I am LOL. Nail polish has to be the worst material to work with - it smells too strong and it won't last long.
