I would very much like to sit through a class of yours on beading rocks. That is absolutely gorgeous. I tried it with Super Glue and ended up having beads glued to my fingers, my pants, to the table, and to the end of the wire I was using to pick up the beads. Your design is very geometric, which I would guess comes from lots of practice, and not using the glass seed beads like I was using. Those are way to tiny for old hands that didn’t grow up doing this type of art. Thank you for sharing. :-)

Yes, there's a bit of trial and error with it. Using a tooth pick to lightly dip the tip into the glue to then grabbing a bead with it and then placing it down is what we find works. Also, once the glue starts drying and getting sticky, it can get messy. It's got to be the right amount of glue and - not too runny, not too dry. Calibrated beads are the best for keeping everything geometric and aligned. Keep going with it! It's a great meditation!

Why are you not using wax?
@PedroRobledopachamamanativeart Жыл бұрын
Great question! My work is not the same as the traditional Huichol technique. It's my own contemporary approach. For me, I enjoy working with glue. I find it easy to work with and I like that I can cover the finished piece in resin to keep everything in place firmly.

Is that white (Elmer's) glue? How long do the beads stay on the rock?
@PedroRobledopachamamanativeart7 жыл бұрын
I use regular glue like Elmer's to put each bead on, but after the piece is finished, I use a clear resin to keep them all in place. The resin takes about a day to dry.
