I just started watching this video first thing in the morning. I have been making jewelry for several years now but I couldn’t figure out what BALD head pins were! I will come back after I get my coffee.

What do you think of using butane torch head from Eurotool? Awesome video thanks!
@beaducation7 жыл бұрын
That will totally work!
@glendacox65406 жыл бұрын
Yes, I did!

Could I use sterling silver wire to make a ball like that with the torch?
@beaducation7 жыл бұрын
yes but sterling doesn't ball up as nicely as fine silver and it will turn black from the oxides coming to the surface
@angiem89516 жыл бұрын
I know this was filmed last year so not sure if you will see this or not...just curious if you have a class where you teach how to make the rings you are wearing on your thumbs? Love the rings with the little balls/dots. Thanks
@beaducation6 жыл бұрын
We do not have a class for that style ring. But you can apply the balling technique and solder them onto a surface.

Great demo, I'm just getting into wire wrapping so I'm not using silver at this point, would copper or brass wire do the same ?
@beaducation7 жыл бұрын
We balled up fine silver which is a pure metal. Copper and brass will ball up for sure but not in a nice round ball like fine silver does.
@suzannemelillo47604 жыл бұрын
Can you make balled head pins in copper or brass?
@beaducation4 жыл бұрын
you can. I don't have a tutorial for using other metals. we have tested it in our studio and haven't been super successful in making the balled end round...its more like an oval lol! I am sure there are some tutorials out there using other metals.

i like that bead.. What type and size of bead are you using in this video?
@beaducation5 жыл бұрын
Ho Barbara. It's been a while since this was filmed, so we are not really sure. But it looks like a faceted glass or gemstone. Approximately 6-8mm in size.

Now i know why when i make the little balls becomes black! I need fine silver, not sterling. Thank you very much pretty girls.
@beaducation7 жыл бұрын
Glad we can help! Those black balls will still "work" they just don't come out as round and will need to be cleaned.
@annabr7766 жыл бұрын
Have you tried putting them in a pickle solution? It will usually remove the black stuff.

This has not got anything with this project , but I seen y'all showing the new rings with the rivet already on the ring. So You can start building the ring right away. Can you tell me anything about it or did I miss understand?
@beaducation7 жыл бұрын
We used to carry those rings but they weren't selling well so we discontinued them :(

What gauge of metal do you use to protect your table?
@beaducation5 жыл бұрын
Not sure what gauge. Just something sturdy and you can find it at the hardware store. You can have it cut to fit your workspace.
@rhyannonp82317 жыл бұрын
can you make it with copper metals too?
@beaducation7 жыл бұрын
Yes but the ball does not ball up as nicely as it does with Fine Silver
@ValleyMermaid7 жыл бұрын
Love your videos!!! I've learned so much! Can you recommend a GOOD flush cutter pliers for thicker gauge wire, like 16 or 14 gauge wire? Maybe even 12 gauge? I don't want to ruin my Lindstom flush cutters on a lower gauge wire.

What is in the bowl with the block
@beaducation7 жыл бұрын
That is the quenching cup. It has water in it so that after you make the piece you put it in the water to cool it down.
@louisemissouri44107 жыл бұрын
What metals will do this?
@beaducation7 жыл бұрын
Any metal (that is safe to melt) will ball up like this, but Fine Silver balls the most evenly and cleanly.
@AprilDesignsSMD7 жыл бұрын
Can you do that with copper?
@beaducation7 жыл бұрын
Copper does not ball up as well but it will work.
