You're a wonderful free spirit, Colette, and an inspiration to me. Thanks to you, I have a rowan tree in my front garden and a couple of trees and lots of shrubs in the back garden. Unfortunately, my gardens are only small, so that's the best I could do! But they are largely given over to wildlife, and I like to think of them as my little bit of Bealtaine. But it's your 'slow living' that also inspires me, along with your attitude to life. Keep doing everything you do, and I wish you all the best for 2023 xx

I couldn't agree more Jacqui. This past spring I took pleasure in planting 5 "Bealtaine Trees." 3 Rowan and 2 apple. I also planted 3 Hydrangea shrubs and split and transplanted several Peony. Colette had a hand in all of it. I am so blessed to have found Colette and Bealtaine Cottage. 😊

It must keep your body very fit, cutting back all the overgrowth, as well as being so therapeutic being outside, and tending to Mother Earth. Thank you for letting us be with you on your daily work, and to see how much you love doing it. I soooo want you to find a little lady to fill your heart with joy, as Jack did. The only thing that gets me up in the morning is my black rescue greyhound Madge - I do not know where I would be now without her, as it is just her and me! Love and Blessings from Devon, England. xxx

Oh Kindred Spirits here! Friends indeed! I am so grateful that a very dear friend of mine introduced your work to me, some years ago! This video was especially profound, Colette. Your video's and posts help to keep me on the Path...Yes; it is so easy to become caught up and sidetracked by so many things. Thank you for taking time out to share your heart and soul with us. Blessings !!

Today in england was warmer.it didnt rain . It wasnt too windy. So i popped outside to start cutting some very overgrown bushes back to try and make them look like a more manageable size and shape.....i mustve spent a good jour fighting with the long handled cutter handles which kept slipping around.but ive done half of one bush....it was great fun.. i was exhausted the rest of the day... but it was worth it. And when your a couch potato like me.... an unexpected bit of gardening when my preferred weather hits....is thrilling ....trouble is... i always chop things back but leave the branches on the.drivway or lawn for months.! But.... now i like watching you gardening on you tube.... im think8ng the mess i left today n3eds a proper holding area so it can dry out... then itll make some lovely kindling for the stove next year.... and im going to plant trees next autumn. Just a few... to make some more shade in my big back garden .im planning on a sweet chestnut....and a copper beech .then pe4haps a bramley apple tree as we lost two ancient ones over the last few years in storms. Happy New Year Collette.! And good luck with your doggy hunt!. Poor jack.xxx

Dear Colette, I have not only been inspired to plant trees but also been introduced to the following: fairies, celtic wisdom, living by the light not the clock and gregorian calendar, william butler yeats, real permaculture, charles dowding, a great view of your beautiful Ireland that I always loved and a long list of different ideas and worlds that I didn’t know that exist. My life is much richer since I found your channel some 5 years ago or so. I have all of your books and I they have a special place in my home. Thank you for being such an inspiring soul!❤🕊🌟

You really inspired me to plant trees. I have only 296 square m (3186 squarefeet). There were 2 trees when I got the garden 🌲🌲 I tried to find out how many I planted until now. I think 46 are there already. Pears 🍐, nectarine trees, plums, 2 old apple trees that I shifted. Willows that the 🐝 bees get food very early in the season. Rowan trees planted by birds, 3 walnut trees planted by squirrels. I've planted many shrubs like hazelnuts, lilac, butterfly lilac, weigelia, elder for the birds and so on. My garden / allotment is about 15 km away from my appartment and sometimes when I come home from work I just want to relax. Then I watch your videos and hear how you say: " plant ..." and I get up and ride my bike to the garden 🚵🏻‍♀️ and plant ... and I have many seedlings in small pots sitting around to find a new place. Greetings Heidi

I love planting trees. I have planted trees at every place I have lived for the last 30 years. I have moved quite a bit, but my hope is those trees are still living and thriving, providing food and a habitat for the insects, birds and mammals. I am now surrounded by millions of trees in a national forest; however, I'm still planting my trees! I have planted cherry, peaches, apples, dogwoods and maples. This year I will plant Chinkapin chestnuts, an American hybrid cross Chestnut, Scoth Pine and red maple. I will be planting more elderberry as well. I believe my husband thinks I'm crazy, but he helps me dig the holes and stick them in the ground. I really can't help it, it's a need I feel to create a habitat and add to the beauty that is here.

You are such an inspiration Colette. I watch your videos daily to encourage me to keep going with my own garden. My marriage fell apart 5 years ago but I’ve decided to stay in the family home. I couldn’t bare to leave the creatures and life in the garden, even though it is high maintenance and very daunting at times, your videos keep me motivated. I’m determined to keep the garden and all life that I’m blessed with nurtured and cared for ❤ thank you for all you do and share ❤

Oh my goodness, I actually cried watching this video. I don’t know, but I think I saw myself in you and kind of felt validated. That it’s OK to be unpredictable, even to myself. That it’s OK to not follow the crowd and to be happy with a simple life and a strong connection to Mother Earth. I’ve always known I was different and am content in my solitude, but it feels good to have found a kindred spirit. Blessings and many thanks to you, dear Collette 🙏

Colette you are living the dream I had since I was 17 - a little farm. Actually I am living my dream too but on 1/8 (1/10?) acre, not 3! I am 70, so a smaller farm may be more appropriate for my energy. You are so right about dreams, every dream I have had has come to be, in some version or other, deeply satisfying in the version that happens. You are so satisfying to listen to!

This is one of the sites I come to to get away from the news. We're all so appreciative that you had a vision and have shared it with us. A little terrier would be a terrific addition to your home. They have so much energy, just like you. I've planted many trees over my lifetime. Now that we have retired to a small lot, I focus on taking care of the trees that already exist here. They require feeding and pruning but not much more. They're quite large and provide us with very welcome shade here in Florida.

So agree about wet gloves. I have several pairs I rotate. I came to my 10 acres 24 years ago. It is now a green jungle. It was a slow start but now I have to cut back to give space to plant trees. The Earth certainly speaks. Have a wonderful year and I am very sure a beautiful wee dog will join you soon.

I feel we are kindred spirits. 34 years ago I planted 110 long leaf pine saplings. I wanted to create a natural fence around my 2 acres. I used a post hole digger and a very gentle rain was falling enough to make the ground soft and the job was easy and quick. Today I cannot see outside of my property the privacy is marvelous. However I live in florida and hurricane season is scary as hell when the wind moves those trees back and forth for fear of one going through the roof. I purposely go out and talk to the trees and hug the mighty ones and whisper for them to stay strong before a hurricane. So far so good I love the journey with trees like you do, colette!

I wish I could afford to get a few acres of land to plant a forest and live off the land, unfortunately - my family do not want to do that, so I am stuck in the suburbs for now - however, due to me watching your channel, I have done a heap of planting in my garden - I now have 2 apple trees, a cherry tree, a peach tree, 3 lemon trees, banana trees, mandarin tree, pomegranate, avocado and heaps of berries (blueberries, raspberries, goji's) and guavas + flower beds and vegetables as well - I have created a haven for insects, birds and bees - so thank you Colette for the inspiration to get this all happening - it's my sanctuary!! I love your channel and your videos - you always make me smile and give me great ideas to boot!! Blessings to you xxx

I’ve followed you for years Colette, and have taken your wisdom on board ever since. We don’t have a large garden, but in addition to growing food where we can, I’ve planted as many trees as will fit. We have poor soil but I hope ours becomes as fertile as yours over time. I live in Australia so the more trees to shade our homes and earth, the better. We have planted 2 apple trees, a black Tupelo, a mulberry, a golden larch, a copper beech, three silver birches, a Scot’s pine and a flowering ash. Thank you for your guidance and wisdom over all these years xx

I cannot believe how life has swept me away this past year! I'm deliberately taking January off and taking it one slow day at a time. Life has taken me away from YT and away from my favorite channels that kept me balanced and in check. I never realized just how long I'd been gone. I've been on social media, but for work, and life has distracted me from my own peace. I came here to see what you (one of my favorite people) have been up to. I didn't realize that I hadn't watched any of your videos since 2021! So much has happened, including Jack leaving us. He will be so missed. But this weekend, your videos have all brought me back to my sacred space within. Thank you so much, Colette. I do want to mention how much I love when you take us all on your walks out in the forests, pathways, the ancient ruins, and the faerie dwellings. Thank you for still being here when I've come back from my involuntary hiatus to find my sacred space again. ❤Much love to you. And to Jack in spirit. I know he's still there with you. ❤❤❤

I find that people who use the word "negative" when referring to the news of the day could turn that around and use "realistic". That's the word I like to use. Same with complaining. People say "oh, you're "complaining" again. I'm not "complaining", I'm expressing my "opinion". And, I have a right to express my opinion. People who think you're complaining just don't have an "opinion" in my experience, and too bad for them. You're entitled to it and you're wasting that entitlement. Live a little and express your opinion. It's all in what you can tolerate. So, Colette, for you to say the news is "negative", that is definitely your "opinion". I certainly don't see it as a complaint. It's your opinion.

Cannot help but conclude : Colette, for sure you are a creative visionary, Oh so wonderful for all of us who adore your beautiful vlogs of the land And everything you share with us. I am so happy to be part of your community I cannot wait for you to find this certain little female doggie, and am sure there is a reason Why you are taking your time , is as though you are of a knowing when you first meet her I follow another wonderful lady who had adopted a little doggie. She had searched the doggie shelters for a very long time , then one day she asked the question.? What dog has been here the longest , no one else seems to want. She was led to the back Of the shelter and lying so dejectedly half asleep , curled up in a ball , She knew instantly in her heart , oh here is the one coming home with me today She names him *Desi and oh the vlog always includes wee Desi , smothered in her arms The lady comes under the name of (Little Poet) utube . I am sure is alright for me to add this to my note to you , lastly but not least How I love your little insect 🐜 🦗🐞bed for all the wee earth creatures and how you explain These are not so insignificant at all but part of our ecosystems for decomposing organic matter 👏 Mary Canada 🍁

The thing I like about your videos is that they show people how enjoyable outdoor physical labor can be. I think there are a lot of people who feel that physical labor is beneath them. It's something that people who can't do anything else do. What they fail to realize (from lack of experience) is that there is a psychological benefit in that you can actually see that you have done something. So many people in their work just exercise their minds and have no tangible product to show for their labor. Physical labor always has that tangible product to look at and appreciate and realize that the effort involved actually accomplished something. And I think, just my opinion, that many people if they just took the leap and started in working in the garden or began landscaping their land would soon realize that it was very enjoyable to make the space that you inhabit a more beautiful and/or productive place.

You, Colette, are a very aesthetically and energetically lovely person. It’s truly wonderful to watch how you blend in with the acreage; a part of the ecosystem, rather than distinct from it. You inspired me to plant two fruit trees and several current bushes in my yard. It's not a big yard so I chose dwarf varieties. I also nurture seedlings which I gift to others.

Thank you so much Colette for sharing your freestyle with us. I love that. As far as cooking is concerned, I am freestyling as well. In general, it is about the colours of the food I put in my dishes. It is as if I was painting. Happy New Year to you Colette and many blessing to you too.

My mother was a great woman at reframing things. I remember once complaining that I had so much to do and she said, wouldn't it be worse if you had nothing to do, or couldn't do anything.

I do feel like a friend. Your love and nurturing soul really draws me to you. You're an inspiration, a role model and a wonderful steward of mother earth. Last year I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and as a result developed lymphoedema. It was a really hard year as my health took a pummeling. Well I'm trying to gain back some fitness and strength back into my legs so I can get out and work on my land. Like you I had to purchase a very old run down cottage on acreage, but I love her. The animals my daughter and I have rescued are forever safe here and have also helped with our healing process. Thank you Collete for all that you do. Much love from Australia 😊 xx
