This video explains how I installed a beam combiner on my k40 laser. link to cloud Ray beam combiner kit: Cloudray Beam Combiner Base 20/25mm for CO2 Laser Engraving Cutting Machine (Base & Lens(D20) a.co/d/5YmLzD3

Rick, I really like the way you did that. Yeah, the red dot pointer is pretty much worthless. I removed mine and got rid of it. Have you noticed any measurable loss in the amount of power on the material, or is the trade off worth it. I am upgrading my Monport so I can learn everything I will need to do on my next (larger) laser. I am using a spacer and upsizing the tube and power supply next. That is the last thing I need to do except for the beam combiner - which I had pretty much given up on until I saw this video. I went ahead and put in a camera in its place, but not quite the same. You are absolutely correct about there not being much information out there on the beam combiner/K40. Most likely for the reasons you mentioned. Anyway, thanks again. Nice video.

John, I have not seen any noticeable change in the laser power. At least my library settings are still working well. I would not have gone down this rabbit hole. But I have a trotec at work and I absolutely love having this ability. Good luck on your upgrades!

If there was more space on the left hand side of the case, could you reverse the orientation of the combiner mount so the laser pointer was on the left side? And do you think that this would allow the drag chain to clear and properly home? What I'm think is to cut out a section of the left side to clear the mount in the opposite orientation. Similar to how people cut out the side of the case in order to mount a longer tube and then 3d print a cover.

The cloud ray kit came with it. I had to modify it a little.
