Demo video of me playing Beam NG Drive using a real instrument cluster from a VW T-Cross (MQB platform) car.
Instrument cluster is driven from a CAN bus interface and an ESP32. The game is running on a Steam deck connected to a monitor and Beam NG telemetry data is sent (wireless) to the ESP32 that then updates the cluster.

Hello, I've finally received all the components required for the project. Upon testing, I encountered significant performance issues with my cluster. It was experiencing severe lag, with the speedometer dropping to 0 RPM and 0 KPH every 6-7 seconds before returning to the expected speed. Additionally, the left turn signals were activating randomly, and the image of the front left door on the cluster screen was also appearing intermittently, accompanied by considerable noise. This noise issue is particularly pronounced at speeds over 120 KPH, as a sound alert is triggered when the speedometer lags to 0 and then returns, resulting in this sound being activated approximately every 7 seconds. To mitigate this, I've disabled the blinker and door open notifications in the code. I'm curious if this behavior is typical for MQB clusters, as I've observed that PQ clusters do not exhibit this lagging issue. For reference, I'm using a Golf 7 5G1.920.730, an ESP32-C3-M1, and a Seeed Studio CAN Bus Shield V2. I have specifically integrated the Seeed Studio library into the project because it requires this proprietary library, although it uses the same functions found in the existing project's library. By the way, fantastic work in identifying those CAN addresses! Much respect!

I finally got rid of the lag!!! Just change the baudrate in the sketch and in simhub to 921600. Its butter smooth now !

@@cacti16s Ah, yes. That would do it. Makes sense. I pretty much always use wifi, so I guess I never really noticed.

I managed to get the GOLF MK7 panel to work, however the auto and low beam lights and the hand brake light don't work on the ETS2 and ATS, another thing that was a little confusing for me was installing the module to simulate the fuel

For the light indicators - most of them aren't implemented yet. High beams are, but others aren't. The handbrake indicator should be working, but sadly some of these features depend on the equipment level that the car came with. And second it depends what data the game publishes. For example there is no high beam/dipped beam indicator in Forza. The fuel simulation is a bit annoying for pretty much every car. I have a little breakout PCB that makes the wiring for that much easier, but I need a bit of time before I publish that. The Golf has two fuel tank sensors so you need two of these (some cars only have one).

Thank you very much for your feedback, is it possible to provide the complete pinout for this golf mk7 cluster? What about the fuel gauge pins and is it possible to tell if it is pin 14 and 15? Thank you very much in advance for your attention.@@rolaroli

@@wjrgameplay7764 Hi! For the Golf 7 pin 14 and 15 are primary fuel tank and pin 12 and 13 are auxiliary fuel tank. Pin 7 is parking brake pressure switch - but I don't think you need that. Though if the parking brake indicator currently isn't working then maybe try that pin - either connect it to 12V or GND and see what happens. Could be a difference in build dates/equipment level. And I will add those pins to the github repo when I am updating the docs.
