True…and that is problem #73 with dictatorships….you can get stuff down quickly, if rich and politically connected, but no one can say no or mention the project is a bad idea. So both the good, and many bad, projects get started if the dictator wants it.
@Itried20takennames11 ай бұрын
@@tommarntI don’t know anything about that particular project, but there are definitely con people who specialize in “big projects,” where they over-promise and get a ton of money, then start a little with cheap materials and then claim technical or other problems stopped the build. They then keep much the initial huge funds and any money they can get from selling off high quality building material, and knew fro the start they weren’t going to actually complete the project. Or of course, there is old-school corruption where contractors promise a high quality project, then cut corners and switch to cheap materials for the finished build, and keep the difference (of not caught or prosecuted).

The Sagrada Familia is still under construction. There is no reason to think that it'll never be finished. Cathedrals just take time. Especially with the way Gaudi designed it. He didn't want it to be made of concrete and drywall.
@haplessasshole96156 ай бұрын
It took nearly 200 years to build Notre Dame, and over 257 years to build York Cathedral. One century to build a structure like Sagrada Familia is pretty quick work.

As a kid I can remember my parents taking me to see the Xanadu house in Wisconsin. For a kid, it was awesome, almost like a big playhouse! Everything was built in, all curvy lines, but how could all cement furniture be comfortable? You would probably have to spend so much money in padding for the furniture you would end up bankrupt! Still, it was cool, and it’s a neat memory to have.
@TrainTruck11 ай бұрын
Well, it probably was just for show, if anything else it'll probably be optional choice to say how you would like the house to be or if anything really just demolish the interior part for actual furniture.

You said Xanadu didn't materialize, when in truth it upgraded and has been out ever since. you can have one of these houses made for you for much cheaper than a normal home. Concrete dome house, made with reinforced steal frame. You can cover the entire thing with a layer of grass too. I was one of Xanadu's visitors a long time ago. I still think the idea is great, especially if you have to deal with hurricanes or tornadoes.

First of all, sending food consistently will cost around 2x that of most of the world's military budget. And seeing how we have like nearly a billion very hungry people. Not only do we have to stop most of the critical care shipments like Oil and materials to just meet the minimal demand for food transportation. If we wanna feed all hungry people in the world then we would have to only give them 1 meal since if we made go through three-course meals then it would dramatically reduce the efficiency of feeding and increase cost. Royal Caribbean already has a hard time supplying food to a lot of people in just 7 days, imagine the world taking on this. Travel expenses, food preservation, paper work are just too much.

Regarding the Turkish fairytale homes…If were to complete the basics in the homes (windows, insulation, communications, HVAC, plumping, electricity), and roads and the public utilities, and then price these at starter home prices (substantially less than $100,000), I’d think about buying one and finish it myself. Yeah, they might take a short-term loss, but they might develop a thriving international immigrant community that could add to the Turkish economy for centuries. Right now it is just a millstone around Turkey’s neck.

27:22 I actually went there for a trip with a group a few years ago and Heart Island was amazing! The story of why Boldt Castle went unfinished is both tragic and sad, as did the fate of the castle. But I hope that maybe one day, someone will finish the Boldt Castle and dedicate it to the couple that had planned to live there years ago. I do often wonder how things would've turned out if Louise had never died and her husband kept the construction on their home going? I think it would've been their happy home, and later became a museum of sorts. Well, it's a museum of sorts for tourists.

That could make sense, the timeline might possibly match up. But what doesn't match up is how his mummy fragments got there if they were washed away. Was his body possibly recovered? And if so, how was he in his 20s as the Pharaoh Moses and Aaron went against would've been older? Also, the Pharaoh mentioned in the bible was name Rameses. Are they the same person? I see where you're going with it, but that just opens up so many more questions.
