Back in the day my stepmom was always really big on taking care of her hair and all that good stuff, more so than the average person, and she would always consistently wash her hair once a month in a mixture of egg whites and beer! @williammcleroy5582 жыл бұрын
In 1875 a man named Valentine Fogerty was credited as patenting the first nail clippers but it was more like a circular file. Before that folks used what is akin to a paring knife to carve their nails or an actual knife. 1881 Eugene Heim and Oelestin Matz made the first clippers resembling what we have now.

Thankfully, there are alcohol free mouthwash (even hairsprays) now. For those of us with ‘dry mouth’ syndrome (either as a side effect of many different medications or other reasons), they work well and do not add to this issue. For dry skin and hair, there are phosphate free (or greatly reduced) choices. 🙂

Another fun fact about pee is that it was used to dye fabric and to tan leather. Stale, old pee is left to sit around until it's good and ripe and then was added to a vat of indigo dye solution. The resulting brew helped deposit bits of indigo onto fabric fibers and helped "develop" the color, much like you develop exposed film to produce a photo. Indigo, mostly used today in your blue denim jeans, has been around for millennia and makes a beautiful blue from sky to midnight and everything in between. Indigo also doesn't stain the clothing fibers like other dyes do, hence the need for pee which helps it bond to the outside of the fibers, which is why your jeans fade in the wash. Indigo dye merely coats the fibers and doesn't penetrate them very well at all. The more you know. (I'm a textile artist as well as shepherd and a few other things.) Oh and the thing with split socks worn with sandals? The Japanese still do that. They're called tabi and are quite comfortable. They wear the split socks with a number of types of sandals but mostly with zori or geta, depending on what else they're wearing (formal or informal respectively).
@elultimo102 Жыл бұрын
After the acid-washed, faded, and ripped-up jeans era, I fully expected that midnight blue neatly pressed jeans would be in vogue. (Since you could never fix all the rips or get the color that dark---necessitating the purchase of new jeans. (planned obsolescence).

In the dark/middle ages, in British cities, there were those intrepid individuals who everyday gathered pee and "night soil". This was used for various purposes, and was a profitable commodity. Some became quite well-to-do from this occupation. Thus was coined the phrase "filthy rich"! No joke.

When it comes to using someone else's teeth, it was not unusual for the master to have a slaves tooth pulled and inserted in the socket of the master's pulled tooth. Apparently, the extracted slave tooth would root in the master's mouth. I believe this procedure was used fairly widely, but the extracted tooth came from a recently dead person. I don't remember where I heard about this procedure, so please don't ask for citations of authority, because I can't remember where I learned this.
