Before he passed away, our next door neighbor could back in his truck with a trailer attached, without slowing down. There was only so much room as he had a bunch of sheds lining his driveway and then at one point it turned behind his house. It was crazy to watch.

I consider myself a pretty good driver. Over the decades, I have done a few amazingly good things, sometimes avoiding a potential accident caused by others. Then again, I have done a few things that left me saying to myself, "Self, that was truly stupid! Why did you do that!?" 😆 It's refreshing seeing these forklift drivers doing great jobs. A good counterpoint to all those "forklift follies" shown in other videos! Exceptional examples of excavator excellence too!

When you get older you realize this and definitely in our younger days we were stupid. Look at what our roads look like now compared to 30 years ago, one can see the levels of stupid is exponential.

All the time spent playing GTA taught me a few things about driving that saved my life once. Two lane highway, the guy in the oncoming lane suddenly swerves into my lane, oversteers, and goes into a skid. I instinctively swerved to the left into oncoming traffic (the lane was empty save for him) and that turned out to be the right call because he drifted off onto the shoulder. If I'd swerved right, we'd have hit head-on, each doing probably 70.

My instructor taught me how to drift... not on purpose of course. A semi pulled out right in front of us as we came off the highway in the rain and I had to slip the car a little sideways to avoid us all being decapitated. I put it all down to using both feet to drive. Seriously though, that last bit about truck drivers... that should be their training course lol. So so many bad drivers in the US that something as intense as that should be required to get your license!

If I tried that one with one forklift picking up another, I wouldn't have my job for much longer, lol. It is surprising how precise you can get with hydraulic machines, one of my favorites is emptying heavy trade bins using my clamp truck by flipping them upside down then flipping them back on their wheels without getting out. Yes, I'm THAT lazy. I've not seen that one with heads or tails before though, I'll have to try that some time.

Ah hem... 10 and 2 have always been incorrect; it was recommended to teach new drivers to keep their attention up while driving, as opposed to very experienced drivers who normally drive with only one hand on the steering wheel and an elbow on an armrest. Forcing 10 and 2 forces those beginner drivers to keep their arms up, and their hands on the steering wheel. If you research, racing and professional drivers keep their hands at 9 and 3 because it gives them instantaneous knowledge of going back to driving straight after any emergency maneuver, where 10 and 2 leaves one having to re-establish position afterwards.

The guy pushing the pallets is using a narrow aisle reach truck. Having driven both a counterbalance forklift and a reach truck... it is DEFINATELY more difficult to smoothly operate the reach truck than the forklift. Steering wheel vs side turnwheel plus drive lever.

Because that is Ireland, they wouldn't have access to that Russian truck brand due to emissions regulations. Also those trucks would be old and would need constant maintenance for the electronics. Also that's a 750hp Volvo truck their using there, one of the ones with 4 axles, that truck is more than enough for that heavy load.
