No way it is him, imo. Firstly, the front of the canoe is typically occupied by the most agile and observant warrior, often responsible for spotting the enemy or obstacles. They might also be the first to disembark in an attack. Michael needed glasses, so his eye sight wasn't great. Moreover, for a tribe to accept a white man, he would need to possess traits that the tribe deemed useful. While Michael Rockefeller showed traits of curiosity and respect for Asmat culture, he did not possess survival skills or knowledge that would make him inherently valuable in a tribal sense. His approach was more observational and collector-focused than integrative. I believe he most likey drowned or met some other tragic fate.
